COLUMBUS, Ohio — The LSU men’s 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relays each recorded top-15 finishes and captured All-America honors on the first day of the 2010 NCAA Championships Friday at Ohio State’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
The 200 free relay foursome of Andrei Tuomola, Hannes Heyl, Sean LeNeave and James Meyers finished 15th with a clocking of 1 minute, 19.51 seconds, while the 400 medley group of Meyers, Tuomola, Heyl and LeNeave also took 15th with a mark of 3:11.61.
In individual competition, Tuomola and LeNeave each competed in the 50 free with Tuomola registering 36th (19.96) and LeNeave placing 48th (20.28).
Freshman Craig Hamilton also swam individually, posting a 47th-place finish in the 500 free with a 4:31.23 clocking.
LSU is 26th in the team standings after Day 1.
The Tigers will race in the 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke on the second day of competition Saturday. Live results and streaming video can be accessed at www.LSUsports.net.
