SENIOR SEASON (2012-13)
Arrived at LSU with his eyes set on capturing three individual long standing records and left the Tigers as a record holder in three individual events and two relay events … Picked up a pair of NCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 50 free and the 100 breast, which were his first two national individual honors of his career … Took down Mark Andrews’s 25 year-old record in the 50 free with a 15th place finish at the NCAA Championships and a time of 19.53 … Tied Adam Schmitt’s 25 year-old record of 43.22 in the 100 free prelims and took eighth overall in the event with a time of 43.58 at the SEC Championships … Broke LSU’s 16 year-old record in the 100 breast and became the first LSU Tiger to break the 53-second barrier with a swim of 52.76 in prelims at NCAA’s … Earned a bronze medal at the SEC Championships in the 100 breast with a time of 53.02. … Posted a mark of 53.22 for a fourth place finish in the consolation final of the 100 breast at NCAA’s … Racked up seven team points at the NCAA Championships … Took 23rd in the 100 free with a time of 43.32 at NCAA’s … Anchored the program’s all-time fastest 400 medley relay (3:10.42) at the SEC Championships … Earned gold in the 100 breast (54.37) and bronze in the 50 free (20.35) and 100 free (44.31) at the Phil Hansel midseason meet … Swept the sprint events with times of 20.53 in the 50 free and 45.84 in the 100 free in his final home as a Tiger in a win over Kentucky … Won the 50 free (20.38) in a dual with Texas A&M … Notched a pair of second place finishes in the 50 free (20.38) and in the 100 free (44.97) in a win over Alabama … Picked up his fourth varsity letter.
JUNIOR SEASON (2011-12)
One of the conferences premier competitors who is primed for a huge senior season after being LSU’s leader in the sprint freestyle events and the 100 breaststroke … Cranked out NCAA ‘B’ cuts in all three of his races … Registered LSU’s third fastest all-time 100 breast time of 53.82 in a bronze medal finish at the SEC Championships … Posted the program’s fourth best 50 free mark of 19.68 after touching the wall first in the consolation final at SEC’s … Finished first in the consolation of the 100 free final with a season low time of 43.72 at the conference meet … Swam the leadoff leg in the 200 free and 400 free relays and the third leg of the 200 medley relay in the team’s season best relays at SEC’s … Also competed at the Tennessee Invitational, the Bulldog Last Chance Meet and in every dual meet … Took gold in the 50 free (19.94) and the 100 breast (53.99) and silver in the 100 free (43.78) at the Tennessee Invitational … Touched the wall first in the 50 free (20.24) and second in the 100 free (44.90) in a narrow victory over Alabama … Placed first in the 100 free (45.44) and second in the 50 free (20.85) against Florida … Earned his third varsity letter.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2010-11)
Proved to be LSU’s fastest sprint freestyle and 100 breaststroke performer for the second straight season … Led the team in the two events, posted NCAA ‘B’ cuts in three races and played an integral role in relay competition … Competed in every dual meet, Cougar Classic Invitational and SEC Championships … Raced to sixth in the 100 breast (53.99) at the SEC Championships … Delivered seventh in the 50 freestyle (19.83) after qualifying with a program top-10 mark of 19.71 and claimed 11th in the 100 free (43.88) … Also swam the breaststroke leg on a pair of top-five medley relays at the conference meet … Emerged as LSU’s top performer at the Cougar Classic with victories in the 50 free (19.92), 100 breast (54.19) and 100 free (44.34) … Swept the 50 and 100 free versus nationally-ranked Florida at home … Won the 100 breast and took second in the 100 free in a road victory over Alabama … Topped the field in the 100 free and swam to third in the 100 breast in a home victory over Florida State … Captured first-place in the 50 free in a win over American … Secured top honors in the 50 free and placed third in the 100 breast at the Florida Atlantic Invite … Earned runner-up honors in the 100 breast at Texas A&M … Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll … Received his second varsity letter.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2009-10)
LSU’s top freshman performer who earned four All-America honors in relay competition … Also a member of the SEC All-Freshmen team … Competed in every dual meet, Houston’s Cougar Classic Fall Invitational, SEC and NCAA Championships … Swam the breaststroke legs on the team’s All-America 200 and 400 medley relays, which placed 14th and 15th, respectively … Led off the Tigers’ 15th-place 200 freestyle relay and held the second leg on the team’s 16th-place 400 free relay … Also raced individually in the 50 and 100 free and 100 breaststroke … Emerged as LSU’s top scoring swimmer at SEC’s with three top-16 finishes … Delivered sixth in the 100 breast (54.17) after advancing with the fourth-fastest clocking in school history, 53.93 … Registered 10th in the 100 free with a career best of 43.65, fourth in program annals … Tied for 10th in the 50 free with another program top-10 time of 19.90 … Also swam the breaststroke leg on the Tigers’ third-place 200 medley relay, which shattered the school record with a 1:26.00 mark … Captured runner up honors in the 100 breast at the Cougar Classic … Posted fourth in the 100 free, sixth in the 50 free and eighth in the 100 butterfly at the same competition … Named SEC Freshman of the Week after sweeping the 50 and 100 free against nationally-ranked Tennessee … Also earned SEC Freshman of the Week following his performance at UNO in which he won both the 100 breast and 100 free … Tallied victories in the 50 and 100 free at Alabama … Claimed first-place in the 100 breast versus nationally-ranked Florida … Recorded wins in the 100 free at home versus UNO and took first in the 100 fly at Florida Atlantic … Also notched five runner-up finishes in dual-meet competition … Recipient of the men’s Newcomer of the Year Award at the program’s annual banquet … Received his first varsity letter.

Phenomenal Finnish sprinter who emerged as arguably this year’s premier collegiate sprinting prospect from the international levels … A two-time Finnish National champion in the 50 and 100 free and the national record-holder in the 50 free … Competed at the 2009 European Short Course Championships in Belgrade, Serbia and came away with personal bests of 22.10 and 49.07 in the 50scm and 100scm free, respectively … Boasts a blistering lifetime best of 22.41 in the 50m free … That time is comparable to a 2009 NCAA automatic qualifying cut … Also holds a top time of 50.52 in the 100m free … Rated No. 23 overall in the CollegeSwimming.com recruit rankings of 2009 … Also a five-star prospect by Swimming World Magazine … Attended the same high school as fellow LSU signee Reijo Hyvenen … Coached by Mika Kekalainen.
