FRESHMAN SEASON (2025)
Kailin Chio delivered one of the most historic debut seasons in LSU history in 2025, immediately establishing herself as a cornerstone of the Tigers’ lineup and one of the nation’s top all-around competitors… Competed in the all-around in all but one meet in her first year… She was named the 2025 NCAA Vault Champion with her 9.9750 score in the NCAA Semifinals, the third highest score by an LSU gymnast at championships, to become only the third freshman in LSU history to win an individual NCAA title… With 14 appearances in the all-around, Chio recorded a career-high 39.800, the highest all-around score by an LSU freshman in 2025, and finished the year with a 39.513 season average… Finished the season with highs of 10.00 on vault, 9.950’s on bars and beam and 9.975 on floor… She earned multiple titles throughout the season, winning 23 titles as a freshman, with six on vault, four on bars, three on beam, three on floor and six in the all-around… Earned seven All-America honors in her first season, claiming honors on every event and the all-around in the regular season and two NCAA postseason All-America honors on vault and all-around… She made SEC history when she set the record for the most SEC Freshman of the Week honors in a single season, taking home nine out of 11 awards in 2025, the most by any freshman in SEC history.… Named the 2025 SEC Freshman of the Year, becoming only the fourth gymnast in LSU history to win the SEC Freshman of the Year award, joining Haleigh Bryant (2021), Kiya Johnson (2020) and April Burkholder (2003), as well as becoming the 20th gymnast to earn a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team since it began in 2009… She was the first freshman in the country to record a 10 during the 2025 season after executing a perfect yurchenko one and a half on vault against Auburn on March 22… Chio finished the regular season ranked in the top 20 on every event nationally with an NQS of 9.9+ across the board… She placed amongst the top 10 gymnasts in the nation for eight out of 12 weeks of competition heading into postseason, including claiming being the No. 1 vaulter in the nation for two weeks… Finished the regular season ranked the No. 5 all-arounder in the country with her NQS of 39.670… She had 10 meets this year where she put up scores of 9.900 or better on at least three events and three meets with scores of 9.9+ across the board… Achieved or reached her career high on two events in the Tigers meets against Georgia and at the Podium Challenge… In her postseason debut, Chio finished amongst the top 10 performers in the 2025 SEC Gymnastics Championships on vault, bars, floor and the all-around… Earned All-SEC and All-Freshman honors in her first SEC Championship appearance… Helped lead the Tigers to win the Penn State Regional and secure their spot in the NCAA Championship Semifinals, where she took home the individual vault title… Named April 2025 CCACSA Student-Athlete of the Month and earned First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll honors.
CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL
A native of Henderson, Nevada, Chio is a decorated all-around gymnast who has experience on the national and international levels… She is the 2021 American Classic champion on vault, bars and the all-around… She took her skills to the U.S. National Team in 2021, where she helped Team USA win gold in the team final at the Junior Pan American competition… Individually, she claimed the floor title in the inaugural Junior Pan American Games and contributed to Team USA’s success in the team final that year… In her appearance at the 2023 Women’s Development Program National Championship, she was the vault and bars champion… In 2023 she also earned multiple perfect scores on vault and a first-place finish in the all-around in the 2023 Nastia Liukin Cup. Chio is a seven-time national champion… Trained at Gymcats under Cassie Rice and Jill Preston in Henderson, Nevada.
