SOPHOMORE SEASON (2026)
One of the nation’s top all-arounders who competed in every meet for the Tigers and led LSU to a NCAA national runner-up finish… Delivered one of the most consistent sophomore seasons following an already historic freshman season… Honda Award Finalist… first Tiger to score a perfect 10 on vault at the 2026 NCAA Championship Final… 2026 SEC Gymnast of the Year and Region One Gymnast of the Year… earned 13 perfect scores on the season (five on vault, five on beam, three on floor), the second most 10’s in a single season by any NCAA Gymnast since 2019 and most by any LSU Gymnast in a single season… Now sits at 14 career perfect scores, the second most in program history…captured 44 titles in 2026, the program’s third highest in a single season in program history, including 14 on vault, 11 on beam, seven on floor, one on bars and 11 all-around titles…67 career titles as a sophomore…set a program single season record for most wins on vault with 14 titles in 2026…her 12 titles on beam on the year set the program record…ranked No. 1 in the all-around for four consecutive weeks during the regular season and held the No. 1 spot in the nation on vault and beam…. Chio led the nation on multiple events throughout the season, including nine straight weeks at No. 1 on beam (9.950 NQS) and five consecutive weeks atop the vault rankings (9.980 NQS)… Became the first NCAA gymnast since 2019 to hold three of the five national top spots simultaneously… Finished the regular season ranked No. 1 nationally on vault, beam and the all-around, and No. 5 on floor… Earned four regular season WCGA All-America honors… Named 2026 SEC Gymnast of the Year, becoming the ninth gymnast in school history to win the award as a sophomore… Claimed her first two career SEC individual titles at the 2026 SEC Championships, winning both the all-around (39.775) and vault (9.975) while posting 9.900+ scores on all four events.…first gymnast to score three perfect 10’s in a single meet on March 13, becoming the first NCAA gymnast to earn a perfect 30.000 when only competing in three events… recorded three perfect 10s across two meets during NCAA regionals… set the LSU single season record on 10’s… Delivered season highs of 10.000 on vault, beam and floor, a 9.950 on bars and a career-best 39.875 in the all-around against Auburn to match the program record all-around score… Posted scores of 9.9+ on all four events, highlighted by a perfect 10 on vault, in the NCAA Championship Finals to help LSU secure only their second 198+ score in the championship final ever… Added four more postseason All-America honors on vault, beam, floor and the all-around to finish the season with eight honors total… SEC Academic Honor Roll member.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2025)
Kailin Chio delivered one of the most historic debut seasons in LSU history in 2025, immediately establishing herself as a cornerstone of the Tigers’ lineup and one of the nation’s top all-around competitors… Competed in the all-around in all but one meet in her first year… She was named the 2025 NCAA Vault Champion with her 9.9750 score in the NCAA Semifinals, the third highest score by an LSU gymnast at championships, to become only the third freshman in LSU history to win an individual NCAA title… With 14 appearances in the all-around, Chio recorded a career-high 39.800, the highest all-around score by an LSU freshman in 2025, and finished the year with a 39.513 season average… Finished the season with highs of 10.00 on vault, 9.950’s on bars and beam and 9.975 on floor… She earned multiple titles throughout the season, winning 23 titles as a freshman, with six on vault, four on bars, three on beam, three on floor and six in the all-around… Earned seven All-America honors in her first season, claiming honors on every event and the all-around in the regular season and two NCAA postseason All-America honors on vault and all-around… She made SEC history when she set the record for the most SEC Freshman of the Week honors in a single season, taking home nine out of 11 awards in 2025, the most by any freshman in SEC history.… Named the 2025 SEC Freshman of the Year, becoming only the fourth gymnast in LSU history to win the SEC Freshman of the Year award, joining Haleigh Bryant (2021), Kiya Johnson (2020) and April Burkholder (2003), as well as becoming the 20th gymnast to earn a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team since it began in 2009… She was the first freshman in the country to record a 10 during the 2025 season after executing a perfect yurchenko one and a half on vault against Auburn on March 22… Chio finished the regular season ranked in the top 20 on every event nationally with an NQS of 9.9+ across the board… She placed amongst the top 10 gymnasts in the nation for eight out of 12 weeks of competition heading into postseason, including claiming being the No. 1 vaulter in the nation for two weeks… Finished the regular season ranked the No. 5 all-arounder in the country with her NQS of 39.670… She had 10 meets this year where she put up scores of 9.900 or better on at least three events and three meets with scores of 9.9+ across the board… Achieved or reached her career high on two events in the Tigers meets against Georgia and at the Podium Challenge… In her postseason debut, Chio finished amongst the top 10 performers in the 2025 SEC Gymnastics Championships on vault, bars, floor and the all-around… Earned All-SEC and All-Freshman honors in her first SEC Championship appearance… Helped lead the Tigers to win the Penn State Regional and secure their spot in the NCAA Championship Semifinals, where she took home the individual vault title… Named April 2025 CCACSA Student-Athlete of the Month and earned First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll honors.
CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL
A native of Henderson, Nevada, Chio is a decorated all-around gymnast who has experience on the national and international levels… She is the 2021 American Classic champion on vault, bars and the all-around… She took her skills to the U.S. National Team in 2021, where she helped Team USA win gold in the team final at the Junior Pan American competition… Individually, she claimed the floor title in the inaugural Junior Pan American Games and contributed to Team USA’s success in the team final that year… In her appearance at the 2023 Women’s Development Program National Championship, she was the vault and bars champion… In 2023 she also earned multiple perfect scores on vault and a first-place finish in the all-around in the 2023 Nastia Liukin Cup. Chio is a seven-time national champion… Trained at Gymcats under Cassie Rice and Jill Preston in Henderson, Nevada.
