Swimming Teams Complete Relays at SEC Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The LSU swimming teams competed in the 800 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay on Wednesday to open the Southeastern Conference Swimming Championships as the Lancaster Aquatic Center.

The LSU women sit in third place with 155.5 points after four events — three diving and one relay. The No. 23 LSU men picked up 50 points on Wednesday and are in seventh place with 77 total points. Auburn holds the top spot on both the men’s and women’s standings.

The Tigers’ 800 free relay team of sophomore Julius Gloeckner, freshman Sean LeNeave, freshman Will Rivers and sophomore Connor Farber took sixth with a time of 6:35.24. That clocking finished four seconds shy of a school record. Florida won the event in a time of 6:22.31.

Sophomore Katherine Noland, freshman Lauren Grandy, sophomore Sabrina Messmer and sophomore Sarah Dicharry helped the Lady Tigers’ 800 free squad to a sixth-place finish as well (7:27.66). Auburn won the event in a mark of 7:04.12.

LSU’s group of junior Kevin Braud, sophomore Roy Chambers, sophomore Christoph Lubenau and junior Miko Malberg swam a time of 1:29.83 in the 200 medley relay to finish seventh overall.

Individual events begin at 9 a.m. CST Thursday with the prelims of the 500 free, 200 individual medley and 50 free. The 200 free relay will also take place, and finals of all four events start at 5 p.m.
