NEW ORLEANS — The LSU football team continued preparations for its Sugar Bowl showdown with Big Ten champion Illinois, practicing for better than two hours at the Superdome Friday afternoon.
LSU began its workout by concentrating on individual drills before shifting gears to team and special teams drills to close.
After practice defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs discussed the challenges of stopping the high-powered Illinois offense at a press conference, while Trev Faulk, Bradie James, Ryan Clark, Jarvis Green, Kyle Kipps and Damien James represented LSU’s defense.
At the same time, other members of the LSU football team traveled to University Hospital in New Orleans to visit the pediatric ward to lift the spirits of children who are forced to spend their holiday season in a hospital room.
The Tigers put in their fourth of six workouts on Saturday afternoon. Afterwards LSU offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher will meet with the media, as will several members of LSU’s record-setting offensive unit.
