Ashley Shook was promoted to assistant coach for LSU volleyball in July 2023 after serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2022 season.

During her tenure with the program, Shook helped it reach the 2022 NCAA Tournament and win a 3-1 match over Hawaii in the first round on Dec. 2, 2022. It was the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017 and first postseason victory since 2014.

Shook has assisted in the development of four student-athletes who have received five AVCA All-Region accolades, including Jurnee Robinson (2023-2024), who was tabbed the 2023 AVCA South Region Freshman of the Year, Anita Anwusi (2022), Sanaa Dotson (2022) and Ella Larkin (2022).

Off the court, seven Tigers have been tabbed to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team (formally known as CoSIDA), including Angelina Lee (2024), Bailey Ortega (2024), Erin Carmichael (2023), Jade Demps (2023), Jill Bohnet (2022), Paige Flickinger (2022) and Josie Vondran (2022).

Prior to joining the LSU coaching staff, Shook completed a two-year stint playing beach volleyball at Washington. Before joining the Huskies, Shook was a four-year letter for indoor volleyball at the University of Texas from 2017-2020 as a setter.

Shook helped Texas win four Big 12 Championship titles and reached the NCAA Tournament each season. Shook totaled 1,941 assists (8.19 per set), 390 digs, 120 kills, 102.5 total blocks and 18 aces in 182 games played during her tenure with the Longhorns.

Shook led the Longhorns in assists as a freshman in 2017, tallying 1,149 helpers (10.84 per set) to go along with 58 blocks. In her sophomore season, Shook paced the Longhorns again with 742 assists (9.16 per set) and had 10 aces.
