(UPDATED 1/28/26)

Jake Amos, who has helped bring the Tigers back to national prominence and among the best men’s golf programs in the national, is in his second year as the LSU men’s golf team head coach in the 2025-26 season.

LSU’s fall portion of the 2025-26 campaign was one of the finest in program history as the Tigers claimed three team titles out of four tournaments played. The Tigers dominated stroke play at the prestigious Jackson T. Stephens Cup with a 14-under 826 team score before taking down North Carolina in the match play championship by a score of 4-1. Just a week and a half later, the Tigers claimed the second team title with a first-place finish at the Bryan Bros Collegiate with a 35-under 817 before wrapping up the fall with a first-place finish at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational with a 32-under 832 performance. The Tigers were rewarded with the No. 2 ranking in the NCAA standings.

In his first year in Baton Rouge, Amos made an immediate impact and led the Tigers to four tournament titles in the 2024-25 season, the most by a first-year head coach in program history. Amos and the Tigers claimed two tournaments in the fall: Visit Knoxville Collegiate and The Blessings Collegiate Invitational before taking two more in the spring with titles at the Louisiana Classics and the Pauma Valley Invitational. In addition to the four team wins, five Tigers earned individual wins across 12 tournaments played across the season.

Individually, the Tigers had a plethora of accolades. Algot Kleen, a senior transfer who followed Amos from East Tennessee State, shined in his lone season in Baton Rouge. He earned 2025 SEC Newcomer of the Year, first team All-SEC, second team Golfweek All-American, and final spots of 16th in the NCAA Scoreboard rankings and 10th place in the PGA Tour University rankings. He averaged 70.06 for 33 stroke play rounds this season, second best average for an LSU singles season behind the 70.047 of Sam Burns in the 2016-17 season.

Kleen was joined by freshman Arni Sveinsson in helping Amos lead the Tigers to a strong first season at the helm. Sveinsson, one of the top freshmen in the country, finished the year ranked 22nd in the NCAA Scoreboard rankings with a stroke average of 70.25 which is third best in school history behind Sam Burns (2016-17) and Kleen (2024-25). He posted 27 rounds of par or under with a win and five top five finishes. He was named second team All-SEC, Golfweek third team All-American, and one of five players named to the GCAA Freshman Team. He posted an 82.3%-win percentage against the field in his freshman campaign.

Amos guided East Tennessee State to four straight NCAA Championship appearances and was named LSU’s head men’s golf coach on May 29, 2024.

Amos, a finalist for the NCAA Division I Dave Williams Coach of the Year Award, led the Buccaneers to three victories and seven top-three finishes in 2024, including a fourth straight Southern Conference Championship and a 12th place finish at NCAA Championships, ETSU’s best showing since 2001.

Since his arrival in Johnson City, Amos has coached four NCAA All-Americans and eight East All-Region selections, as well as three conference Players of the Year, three conference Freshman of the Year and 15 All-Conference honorees.

As a program, ETSU saw unprecedented success under his leadership, capturing 13 team wins and 13 individual victories in five seasons. Amos was also named 2024 Southern Conference Coach of the Year, his third SoCon Coach of the Year honor after winning the award in both 2021 and 2022.

Amos also brings SEC coaching experience, helping lead the University of South Carolina to back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances as an associate head coach from 2016-18. While in Columbia, Amos helped coach Keenan Huskey to Golfweek All-American honors, as well as the Gamecocks team to 13 top-five finishes.

From 2014-16, Amos was a member of the Purdue golf staff as an assistant coach, helping lead the Boilermakers to one of their best runs in program history with back-to-back NCAA regional appearances and one national championship appearance. In 2015-16, Purdue won three tournaments and finished the season ranked 32nd, which marked their highest ranking since 2005.

In both stints at South Carolina and Purdue, Amos was named a finalist for the Jan Strickland Assistant Coach of the Year Award.

Prior to his time at Purdue, Amos served as an assistant coach at South Florida from 2013-14, leading the Bulls to the NCAA Regionals, finishing the year ranked No. 33 in the country. Amos also helped coach Chase Koepka – brother of Brooks Koepka – to PING All-American honors, which marked the first USF player to earn the accolade since 1989.

Amos played three years collegiately at Augusta University, winning the 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, marking their first title in program history. The Leicester, England native was named 2007 Peach Belt Freshman of the Year, All-America second team, All-America Freshman team, All-Region team selection and an NCAA Regional medalist.

Following his collegiate career, Amos spent three seasons playing professional golf on the Web.com Tour and throughout Europe and Asia.

He and his wife, Dani, have two sons, Jenson King and Jasper Lewis.
