JUNIOR SEASON (1998)
Tigers’ kickoff man who consistently booted kickoffs into and through the opposition’s end zone … Was 1 of 4 in field goal attempts, making a 30-yarder at Florida … Hit 25 of 32 point after touchdown attempts … Scored 28 points on the season … Was perfect 6 of 6 on PAT tries against Arkansas State … Recorded 6 touchbacks against Idaho, 5 against Kentucky, 3 against Auburn, 3 against Mississippi State, 3 against Alabama, 2 against both Ole Miss and Georgia and 1 against Arkansas State, Florida and Notre Dame.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (1997)
The Tigers’ kickoff man in the first 6 games of the season … Hit on his first career field goal, a 30-yarder, in UTEP game … Was 1 of 4 on field goal tries in 1997 and 9 of 10 in point after attempts … Missed a 44-yard field goal at Vanderbilt, but hit the game winning extra point … Hit on 2 extra point attempts in win over top-ranked Florida … Named to 1997 SEC Football Academic Honor Roll.
FRESHMAN SEASON (1996)
Beginning with the Kentucky game the sixth week of the season, Boyd took over kickoff duties for the Tigers … Responded by booming 5 touchbacks on 7 kickoffs in that game … Lined up for 1 field goal, but that was a failed fake attempt vs. Alabama.
HIGH SCHOOL
Drove 55 percent of his kickoffs into the end zone last season at Southeast High School … Made a school-record 51-yard field goal in his senior season … Made 4 of 9 field goal attempts and 35 of 36 extra point tries his senior season … Booted 17 field goals his first 3 seasons and was 74 of 79 on PATs his junior year … Finished career with 21 field goals … Southeast High went 8-3 his senior season and finished as district runners-up … Helped team to 14-1 record as junior and 15-0 mark his sophomore season … High school team won state title each of his sophomore and junior campaigns … One of only 2 kickers on the Atlanta Constitution’s Super Southern 100 … List as one of the top 5 placekickers in the South by Blue Chip Report … An excellent student, he finished in the top 4 percent of his high school class … Played at Southeast High School in Bradenton, Fla., under head coach Paul Maechtle.
