JUNIOR SEASON (1998)
Started all 11 games at strong safety in 1998 … Finished as the team’s No. 3 tackler with 79 tackles, including 57 solo stops … Made 7 tackles behind the line and 2 quarterback sacks while intercepting 2 passes and breaking up 4 others … High tackle game of 13 twice, vs. Georgia and vs. Kentucky … Made 11 tackles at Ole Miss … Intercepted 1 pass each at Auburn and vs. Kentucky … Interception at Auburn was a one-handed grab on Auburn’s first play from scrimmage that he returned 21 yards for LSU’s first touchdown … QB sacks came vs. Arkansas State and Mississippi State … Saw action on more plays than any other player on the team, 853 (733 on defense, 120 on special teams) … Saw special teams action on kickoff, punt and punt return teams.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (1997)
Started and played in 8 games in 1997 … Made 42 tackles on the year with 5 behind the line … Made 4 pass breakups … Started 6 games at nickel back and 2 at strong safety … Starts at NB were in first 2 games of season and last 4 games of season … Also started at SS vs. Florida and Ole Miss … Made big impact in Kentucky game with a 32-yard fumble return that set up a TD and a forced fumble that set up another TD … High tackle game of 8 in 4 regular season games: UTEP, Florida, Kentucky, Alabama … Also made 8 tackles in Independence Bowl win over Notre Dame … 3 TBLs vs. UTEP … Made 8 tackles as he returned to action after a 3-week absence in win over top-ranked Florida … Started at Miss.
