2000 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team

Excellent all-around player who should make a significant impact this season as a multi-purpose performer…granted a medical red-shirt in 1999 after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his right elbow…capable of playing both the infield and the outfield…worked primarily in right field in 2000; has also played third base during his LSU career…was also recruited by Alabama, Miami (Fla.) and Oklahoma State…comes from the same high school which produced Chad Cooley, a three-year starter (1994-96) in the LSU outfield.

2000 Season
Played in 42 games (23 starts), batting .313 (25-for-80) with 10 doubles, 14 RBI and 11 runs…started 15 games in right field, six in left field and two as the designated hitter…batted .500 (6-for-12) in LSU’s post-season games with three doubles, seven RBI and four runs…hit .556 (5-for-9) in the NCAA Regional and Super Regional combined with three doubles, five RBI and three runs…named to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional all-tournament team as he hit .667 (4-for-6) in three games with three doubles and five RBI.

1998 Season
Played in 20 games (five starts), batting .207 (6-for-29) with one homer, seven RBI and nine runs scored…enjoyed a successful homecoming in Lake Charles (March 25), hitting a solo homer to help the Tigers defeat McNeese State. 1997 Season: Appeared in 22 games (three starts), batting .238 (5-for-21) with one double, two homers, seven RBI and seven runs…also pitched three innings on the year, allowing five runs on five hits with one walk and four strikeouts…launched first LSU career homer — a three-run blast — versus Vanderbilt (March 7) …also hit a solo homer against Louisiana College (March 12).

High School
Lettered four years at third base for Barbe…played on three District 3-5A champions (1993, ’95 and ’96)…named all-district each of his four seasons, and earned all-state honors as a junior and senior…as a junior, batted .432 with four homers, six doubles and 24 RBI… also lettered four years in football as a wide receiver, earning all-district honors twice…coached by Glenn Cechini in baseball and Jimmy Shaver in football.
