• Hit .301 (69-for-229) with 14 doubles, two triples, 28 homers, 59 RBI and 56 runs … his 28 home runs is the fourth-highest single-season total in LSU history, and it marked the most by an LSU player since first baseman Matt Clark also hit 28 in 2008
• Finished No. 2 in the SEC in walks (59), No. 5 in home runs, No. 5 in slugging percentage (.747) and No. 9 in total bases (171)
• Named to the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional All-Tournament team after hitting a team-best .538 (7-for-13) with two homers, four RBI, five runs, nine walks and a .739 on-base percentage
• Collected four home runs, eight RBI and five runs in five SEC Tournament games (May 21-26) … hit a grand slam in SEC Tournament win over Kentucky (May 22)
• Blasted a two-out, two-run HR in bottom of eighth inning vs. Northwestern State (May 7), erasing a 5-4 deficit and lifting LSU to a 6-5 win
• 4-for-11 in Missouri series (April 19-21) with two doubles, two homers, three RBI and four runs
• 4-for-5 with three homers, one double, six RBI and four runs scored vs. McNeese on April 9, … Jones tied the LSU single-game record for homers set on several occasions, most recently by outfielder Leon Landry on May 16, 2009, at Mississippi State
• Voted to the Astros Foundation Classic All-Tournament Team after hitting .455 (5-for-11) in three games from March 1-3 with three doubles, one homer, four RBI and three runs … his three-run HR in the 7th inning March 1 vs. Texas was the difference in LSU’s 6-3 win
2023 Season
• Played in 55 games (47 starts) as a true freshman, batting .304 (49-for-161) with 12 doubles, 14 homers, 45 RBI and 37 runs … batted .259 in SEC regular-season games with two doubles, five homers and 19 RBI
• Started 34 games at first base and 13 games at DH during the season
• Appeared in four games of the NCAA Tournament in a reserve role, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double … collected a single as a pinch hitter in Game 3 of the College World Series Finals versus Florida
• Homered twice and drove in five runs in LSU’s series sweep over Alabama (April 28-30)
• Batted .500 (7-for-14) in a four-game week vs. Tulane (April 11) and Kentucky (April 13-15) with three doubles, two homers, five RBI and six runs … in LSU’s SEC series win over Kentucky, Jones hit .400 (4-for-10) with two homers, five RBI and five runs … he blasted two solo homers in the Tigers’ 7-6 win over Kentucky on April 15, and each dinger – one in the second inning and one in the sixth inning – gave the Tigers a lead
• Tied LSU single-game record with three doubles at Tulane on April 11
• Batted .600 (6-for-10) the week of March 28-April 1 with one double, one homer, one RBI and five runs scored; 3-for-5 with a double and two runs on April 1 vs. Tennessee
• Hit .462 (6-for-13) in the Texas A&M series (March 17-19) with one homer, eight RBI and one run … led the Tigers to the series-clinching victory on March 18 by going 4-for-5 at the plate with a three-run homer and a pair of two-run singles for a total of seven RBI
• Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on March 13 after he batted .600 (6-for-10) from March 6-12 with four homers, 11 RBI and five runs … he homered four times in four consecutive plate appearances over the course of the Tigers’ games versus Samford March 11 and 12 … in the March 11 game, Jones launched a pair of two-run homers in his final two plate appearances, and in the March 12 game, he unloaded two three-run dingers in his first two plate appearances
• In the Tigers’ 16-4 win over Sam Houston on Feb. 26 that clinched the Round Rock Classic title for LSU, Jones was 2-for-4 with one double, one homer, one RBI and three runs scored
• Homered and drove in three runs in LSU’s 18-4 win over Southern on Feb. 21
• A member of the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll as an environmental management systems major
High School
No. 4 ranked catcher nationally and No. 1 ranked catcher in Georgia by Perfect Game; played in Perfect Game All-American Classic … ranked nationally as the No. 47 overall prospect by Perfect Game … posted a .450 career batting average at Walton High School, with a .582 on-base percentage and an .814 slugging percentage … recorded 144 hits, including 35 home runs and 112 RBI during his career

Full name is Jared Roger Jones … born August 1, 2003, in Marietta, Ga. … parents are George and Michelle Jones … Dad played football at Georgia Southern from 1985-89 … the youngest of five children, Jared has three older sisters and one older brother … says that “LSU’s fans and winning tradition, along with great facilities and amazing coaching staff influenced my decision to come to LSU” … majoring in environmental management systems at LSU.
