CAREER

Played in 40 games, starting 19 times, including all 13 games in 2009 … Opted to forgo his senior season at LSU to enter the NFL Draft … Standout in both football and baseball at LSU, winning national titles in both sports (2007 in football, 2009 in baseball) … A former 13th-round draft pick by the Houston Astros in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft … Also selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 50th round of the 2010 MLB Draft seven weeks after being taken in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the New York Giants … Emerged as a key relief pitcher for the baseball team while also seeing time in the outfield … Joined Jared Mitchell as the only two players in college history to claim a BCS national title and a baseball national title … The two also became the second and third athletes in school history to win a national title in multiple sports, joining Bennie Brazell, who won team titles in football and track and field during his career with the Tigers … Brother Rahim Alem was also a member of the LSU football team and the two played together for the Tigers for three years.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2008)
Played in all 13 games, starting six times, including bowl win over Georgia Tech … Other starts came against Appalachian State, North Texas, Florida, Troy and Arkansas … Saw majority of his action as a nickel back in LSU’s sub-packages … Finished with 50 total tackles, a pair of sacks and an interception … Had six pass breakups and five quarterback hurries … Forced a pair of fumbles … Returned a total of eight punts for 95 yards, including a long of 24 yards against Mississippi State … Had a 19-yard punt return vs. Alabama … Had arguably best all-around game of his career vs. Troy with nine tackles, two quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and an interception in comeback win over the Trojans … Capped season with strong performance vs. Georgia Tech, recording four tackles and one pass breakup as Tiger defense shutdown the Yellow Jackets triple-option attack … Had seven tackles in win over North Texas … Added six stops, including 1.5 tackles for losses, vs. Ole Miss … Forced fumbles came vs. Alabama and Ole Miss.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2007)
A true freshman who made his presence felt in all 14 of the Tigers’ games … Finished with 34 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, a pick, a forced fumble and three pass breakups … Registered a season-high six tackles, including one for a loss of seven yards, versus Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game … Was impressive in the win over Alabama, recording four tackles, a pair of sacks and a forced fumble … His second sack against the Tide resulted in the fumble that set up the game-winning score with just over a minute left in the contest … Against Florida, knocked down the game-saving pass in the end zone as time expired … Recorded five tackles versus Arkansas … Grabbed his first career interception against Kentucky with an incredible leaping play … Also made his mark on LSU’s special teams units where he made a team-leading 23 tackles in that capacity … Displayed his versatility as a punt returner and kick returner … Averaged 6.6 yards on 17 returns on punts and averaged 22.5 yards on four returns on kickoffs.
