No. 22 LSU Challenges Missouri in Three-Game Road Series

LSU matches up with Missouri for its first SEC series against an unranked team. LSU leads the all-time series, 18-13.

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 22/20 LSU opens the month of April with a three-game series at Missouri on April 2-4 at Mizzou Softball Stadium in Columbia, Mo.

The series begins at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday night, and game two will be at 3 p.m. CT on Good Friday. Both games will have Nate Gatter and Ashley Moore on the SEC Network+ broadcast. The series finale will be at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday with Nate Gatter and Monica Abbott calling the action on SEC Network. Patrick Wright, The Voice of LSU Softball, will call the series on the affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network, including Talk 107.3 FM in Baton Rouge, and streaming live at LSUsports.net/live, and in the LSU Sports Mobile Apps.

LSU (23-12, 4-8 SEC) leads Missouri (20-18, 4-5 SEC) in the all-time series 18-13, including an 8-7 edge when playing in Columbia, Mo. The Fighting Tigers last played Missouri in the 2024 SEC Tournament, where they fell 2-1 in eight innings in the semifinal round. LSU is seeking its first win at Mizzou since 2021.

LSU has won five of its last eight games despite dropping the three-game series to Oklahoma. When LSU takes the field against Missouri, it will be its first SEC series against a program that is not currently ranked after opening its SEC schedule with four consecutive Top 25 series, two of which were top-five teams. LSU has a .259 batting average and has 231 base knocks, including 86 extra-base hits, and has drawn 171 walks, ranking third in the SEC. The pitching staff has accumulated a 2.86 ERA with 174 strikeouts and six shutouts, and the defense boasts a .975 fielding percentage and has turned 20 double plays, the second-most in the SEC.

Jayden Heavener leads LSU in the circle with an 8-6 record and 76 strikeouts in 91.1 innings. She has a 2.76 ERA and 10 complete games, including two shutouts. Cece Cellura (4-4) and Tatum Clopton (6-1) have 53.2 and 36.2 innings pitched, respectively. Cellura has tossed 7.0 innings in three of her last four appearances and has not allowed a walk during that stretch. She has three complete games this season and 23 strikeouts. Clopton has combined for two shutouts and has 23 punchouts as well.

Over the last 24 games, Kylee Edwards has led the offense. She has a .368 batting average, 25 hits, six home runs, and 16 RBI. Overall, K. Edwards has a .306 batting average and 30 hits this season. Sierra Daniel leads LSU with a .333 average. She has 33 hits, scored 22 runs, has 15 RBI, and has turned 12 double plays at second base. Jalia Lassiter leads the team with 35 hits and 34 runs, and bats .327. She has 21 RBI. Tori Edwards (.245) leads the team with 24 RBI and 26 walks, and matches K. Edwards with a team-best six home runs.

  • Missouri is on a five-game winning streak, highlighted by a sweep against Auburn last weekend for its first SEC series win of the season. Mizzou has a .285 batting average with 288 hits, including 40 home runs, has scored 192 runs, and tallied 182 RBI. The pitching staff has a 3.29 ERA with 217 strikeouts over 257.1 innings, and the defense has a .987 fielding percentage with 19 double plays turned.

    Five Mizzou players hit above .300. Stefania Abruscato leads with a .366 average and a team-high 41 hits. She also has six homers, 29 RBI, and 18 runs. Abby Carr bats .324 on 34 hits and leads with 10 home runs and 35 RBI.

    Marissa McCann paces the pitching staff with 81 strikeouts in 87.2 innings. She has three shutouts and is 6-7 on the season with a 3.43 ERA. Cierra Harrison is 8-4 in the circle with a 3.36 ERA and 70 strikeouts over 77.0 innings. Carr, who also pitches, has a 2.15 ERA and allows a staff-low .227 opposing batting average with 44 strikeouts in 52.0 innings. She is 4-3 in the circle this season.
