LSU Men’s Swimming Set to Begin 2021 SEC Championships

COLUMBIA, MO. – The LSU men’s swimming team is in Columbia, Missouri awaiting the start of their portion of the 2021 SEC Championships. The meet will begin on Tuesday, February 23 and run through Friday, February 26 from inside the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

There will be no spectator seating available inside the competition facilities for the duration of the event. All sessions of the championship will air live on SEC Network+.

“We are excited to get to this point with our men,” said LSU head swim coach Dave Geyer. “It has been a long 11 months with some uncertainty and setbacks. I feel they were very forward thinking since we came back this fall regardless of the obstacles we had put in front of us and we are ready to see the culmination of that here this week.”

“One of the main things we picked up on from last week is we have to take advantage of our morning situations,” continued Coach Geyer. “We have spoken with the men about that even before arriving so we are really looking for them to show great intent in their preparation for prelims.”

LAST TIME OUT

This will be the men’s first competition since January 23rd when they took on SEC foe Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

In the meet against the Aggies, Brooks Curry won two events in the 200-Yard Free and the 100-Yard Free with times of 1:36.71 and 42.29. Freshman Mason Nyboer had a strong outing in the 1000-Yard Free, finishing with a time of 9:20.78, seven seconds ahead of the next competitor.

A slew of remaining Tigers had strong outings finishing in the top-three consistently.
