BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) board met with the LSU Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills Program to how discuss how the organization will run this year. The meeting took place in the library of the Cox Communication Academic Center for Student-Athletes.
“Basically we all met just to go over the start of the year, and make sure we all are on the same page. We are figuring out the different things we want to accomplish as a group this year,” said SAAC president and LSU women’s golfer, Sydney Cavin. “We have a great group this year because everyone that’s here really wants to be here, and they’re is willing to work and put in the effort. So, I feel like this year we are going to a lot more done.”
During the meeting student-athletes discussed the constitution of the organization, and even elected new official officers to serve on the board. Members of the CCACSA are thrilled to work with SAAC this upcoming school year.
“I think we’ve got a really great group of students. They’re really excited, and I think that they have a lot of great ideas,” said CCACSA Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Louise A. Bodack. “They are excited about seeing their ideas come to fruition.”
The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square foot facility comprised of academic affairs, student affairs and an information technology teams, serving more than 530 student-athletes. The purpose is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation and life beyond.
