Women’s Golf 10th at Ruth’s Chris Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The LSU women’s golf team, forced to play shorthanded after a minor injury in play to junior Caroline Nistrup, posted their best round of the tournament on Sunday to finish 10th in the Ruth’s Chris Lady Tar Heel event at the UNC Finley Golf Course.

LSU posted a 10-over 298 to finish at 39-over 903 (302-303-298).

Duke led wire-to-wire to win at 3-over 867 (285-293-289), 13 shots better than Arkansas (880) with Louisville third (882) and Michigan State fourth (883).

Sophomore Claudia De Antonio had the best round of the final day with an even par 72 in a two-birdie, two bogeys round. The round helped her move up 16 places on the final leaderboard with a 54-hole total of 226, finishing T39.

Freshman Kathleen Gallagher continued her good start to her college career with a T11 finish at 3-over 219. Gallagher posted a 1-over 73 on the final day to go with 72-74 to finish best for the Lady Tigers. The Individual winner was Leona Maguire of Duke at 4-under 212, one shot better than Sarah Burnham of Michigan State.

Also counted for LSU was a 2-over 74 from Nadine Dreher and a 7-over 79 from Elise Bradley. Playing as an individual, Sydney Cavin posted a second straight 75. Bradley finished at 8-over 224 for a T29 placing and Cavin finished at 11-over 227, tying for 47th.

For the event, Cavin played the par 3 holes in -1 and Gallagher the par 5s in 2-under par.
