CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – LSU women’s golf senior Madelene Sagstrom posted a 3-under par 69 and junior Elise Bradley posted a 1-over 73 as both completed top 15 finishes in the Ruth’s Chris Lady Tar Heel event Sunday at the UNC Finley Golf Course.
Sagstrom had four birdies in her round with just one bogey on the card to lead LSU on the final day as the Lady Tigers posted three consistent rounds to finish seventh. LSU had rounds of 296-295-294 for 21-over par 885. Duke won the tournament with an even par 288 on the final day to finish at -2 862. South Carolina was two shots back at even par 864.
Bradley, from Mandeville, has played her last six rounds in even par and is just +3 for the fall season after a 1-over round of 73 on Sunday. Bradley posted rounds of 72-72-73 to finish at 217 (1-over) and a tie for 11th place in the individual competition. Lauren Diaz-Yi of Virginia won the individual competition at 7-under 209 (70-69-70).
Sagstrom’s 69 put her at 2-over 218 for the 54-holes (77-72-69) as she moved from 35th to a T15 in the final standings.
The Lady Tigers also counted a 3-over 75 from Carly Ray Goldstein, a round that included an eagle two on the par 4- 18th hole and a 5-over 77 from Nadine Dreher.
Statistically, Bradley finished third in the tournament in Par 4 scoring at even par, while Sagstrom led the field on the par 5 holes at 6-under par. Both Sagstrom and Bradley had 10 birdies on the tournament.
The Lady Tigers returned to Baton Rouge late Sunday and will begin work for the final tournament of the fall schedule – The Alamo Invitational at San Antonio, Texas, beginning on October 26.
