CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Junior Elise Bradley from Mandeville continued her strong play to open the 2014-15 season, shooting an even par 72 to open play Friday in the Ruth’s Chris Lady Tar Heel at the UNC Finley Golf Course.
Bradley, who posted a 1-under 209 in the Schooner Fall Classic which concluded Monday in Norman, Oklahoma, is tied for 16th place after the opening day of the 54-hole tournament after her 4-birdie, 4-bogey round. Bradley played the par four holes in 2-under par and the par 5s in one under. Bradley was tied with two others for the best score on the par four holes.
LSU posted an 8-over par 296 on the first day, nine shots behind leader South Carolina which posted a 1-under 287 on the par 72, 6,379-yard layout. Wake Forest and Duke are tied for second at even with North Carolina State fourth at 1-over par. Louisville and LSU are tied for eighth.
Carly Ray Goldstein had a 1-over counting round of 73 for the Lady Tigers as LSU also counted a 2-over 74 from Caroline Nistrup (with a team best 14 pars) and a 5-over 77 from senior Madelene Sagstrom.
Three players are tied for the individual lead after the first round at 4-under par 68 – Marissa Dodd of Wake Forest, Augusta James of North Carolina State and Celine Boutier of Duke.
