Women’s Golf Returns to Play in North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Just four days after completing one tournament, the LSU women’s golf team is back on the road beginning play Friday at the Ruth’s Chris Lady Tar Heel at the UNC Finley Golf Course.

LSU is ranked 13th in the present Golfweek/Sagarin performance rankings after two events.

Elise Bradley, the junior from Mandeville, is coming off a 1-under par performance in the Schooner Fall Classic and Swedish senior Madelene Sagstrom posted a 3-over total for the 54 holes.

LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen liked how her team hit the ball, just the inability to get putts in.

“We hit the ball well and got ourselves into good situations, but we just couldn’t make any putts,” Bahnsen said. “The scores didn’t reflect how well we hit it, so we are looking forward to teeing up this weekend and seeing how things go.”

Bradley and Sagstrom will be in the lineup for the third time this season along with sophomores Caroline Nistrup (Denmark) and Carly Ray Goldstein (Coral Springs, Florida). Junior Nadine Dreher (Austria) will be in her second event, as with freshman Sydney Cavin of Baton Rouge, who will play in the individual competition.

The field including LSU and host North Carolina is: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Duke, Florida, Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi, North Carolina State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rollins, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.

Tee times begins at 7:51 a.m. on Hole 10 and 8:09 a.m. CT at par 72, 6,379-yard course and LSU will be first off No. 1 with host North Carolina and another SEC member, South Carolina.

Live scoring of the event can be found at LSUsports.net through Golfstatresults.com.
