FRANKLIN, Tenn. – LSU senior Madelene Sagstrom posted a 3-under par round of 69 Saturday to move into a tie for the lead entering Sunday’s round of the Mason Rudolph Classic at the South Course of the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
Sagstrom stands at 4-under par 140 after 36 holes and tied with Jenny Hahn of Vanderbilt who had rounds of 72-68 for her 140.
Sagstrom, from Sweden, will be going for her second collegiate title, having won for the first time in her LSU career a year ago.
LSU posted a four-over round of 292 on Saturday to finish 36-holes at 1-over 577 (285-292). The nationally-ranked Lady Tigers are in second place, six shots behind Vanderbilt at -5 under 571. The Commodores after an even par round on Friday posted a 5-under 283 on Saturday.
Mississippi State is third at 8-over par 584 after two consecutive rounds of 292.
Along with Sagstrom’s 3-under 69, LSU counted on the second day, a 2-under 70 from Caroline Nistrup, a 4-over 76 from Carly Goldstein and a 5-over 77 from Nadine Dreher. Nistrup has a two day total of 142 after rounds of 72-70 and is tied for fifth in the individual competition.
