FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — LSU All-Americans Hannes Heyl and Sean LeNeave each qualified for second swims in the 50-meter freestyle Saturday to highlight the programs’ efforts in the final session of the 2009 U.S. Open Swimming Championships in Federal Way, Wash.

Heyl registered his third top-20 performance of the week-long competition, placing 20th in the ‘C’ final of the 50m free with a personal best of 22.91. LeNeave posted a mark of 23.36 to claim 24th in that event after earning a spot in the ‘C’ final with a lifetime best of 23.08. The Tigers’ co-captain also raced in the 200m individual medley earlier in the day, swimming to a 56th-place finish with a time of 2:08.09

Junior-to-be Kannon Betzen, who shined Friday night with her 15th-place finish in the 100m breaststroke, represented the Lady Tigers in the 200m I.M. Saturday. The Hobbs, N.M., native reached the wall in 2:19.87 to take 33rd.

Men’s swimmer Clint Hallum finished 55th in the 200m I.M. with a time of 2:07.98.
