Five Tigers Selected to Play in All-Star Games

BATON ROUGE — Four members of LSU’s second-ranked football team have been invited to play in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., it has been announced.

The Senior Bowl is set for Saturday, Jan. 24 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. The game will be televised to a national audience by ESPN.

Among the Tigers to play in the 2004 Senior Bowl are offensive guard Stephen Peterman, wide receiver Devery Henderson, punter Donnie Jones and defensive tackle Chad Lavalais.

In addition, LSU offensive tackle Rodney Reed has been selected to participate in the East-West Shrine Game in San Francisco on Jan. 10.

LSU coach Nick Saban, along with coordinators Jimbo Fisher and Will Muschamp, were scheduled to coach in the contest but with the Tigers in the BCS National Championship Game, they had to withdraw. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was also forced to withdraw from coaching in the game for the same reason.

Pittsburgh’s Walt Harris and UNLV’s John Robinson have been added to coach in place of Saban and Stoops.
