BATON ROUGE — After 28 national championships, LSU is widely regarded as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Track and Field history. However, LSU’s success hasn’t and will likely never stop at the collegiate level. The Tigers and Lady Tigers continue to produce some of the finest athletes not only in the country, but in the world year in and year out.
This point was illustrated continually through the 2003 summer track season as 17 current and former LSU track and field athletes competed around the world at the IAAF World Championships, the USA Championships, the Pan-American Games and the IAAF World Athletics Series, among other international events.
These athletes with LSU ties could not be ignored on the world scene this year as World Championship gold was won, a United States’ record was set and numerous Pan-Am, U.S. and Grenada medals were captured.
