Men’s Tennis Inks Louisiana Prospect Paul White

BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team announced on Thursday that top prospect Paul White of Lake Charles has signed a national letter-of-intent to play for the Tigers and head coach Jeff Brown next fall.

White, the No. 1 ranked junior player in Louisiana, is also the No. 1 ranked 18-year old in the state. White is the third-ranked player in the south and was previously ranked first in each Louisiana age group in his career (12s, 14s, 16s).

“Paul has represented himself and his family with class, character, and pride throughout his junior tennis years,” said Brown. “We are proud he has chosen to represent LSU. He brings with him qualities that every successful team and school must have.”

White, a senior at Barbe High School, is a 6-1 left-handed serve and volley player who has a 120-mph serve. White is a member of the Louisiana Junior Davis Cup Team in the three age groups. He won the 5-A doubles title in his freshman season at Barbe and was a 5-A singles semifinalist his sophomore year. White was also the singles runner-up in his junior year.

White has a 3.85 gpa and plans to major in pre-medicine. He chose LSU over Texas, Texas A&M and Virginia.
