BATON ROUGE — LSU senior golfer Meredith Duncan was named the women’s Collegiate Player of the Week in the Nov. 2 issue, it was announced by Golf World on Thursday. The magazine also has the Lady Tigers ranked 12th in the nation.

Duncan, an All-American from Shreveport, La., won the first collegiate tournament of her career last weekend, the Lady Paladin Invitational at Greenville, S.C. Duncan posted an even-par 216 to win the title by three strokes over Wake Forest’s Nuria Clau. LSU finished third in the tournament out of 21 teams.

Duncan is the No. 1 ranked Amateur in the world, and is the current United States Amateur Champion. Duncan won the U.S. Amateur in August and both the North-South Amateur and the Western Amateur in June.

LSU is ranked No. 12 in the country following its third-place finish at the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational. Auburn remained No. 1 in the country after winning the Lady Paladin title.

The Golf World poll is conducted by women’s college golf coaches across the country. The Lady Tigers next participate in the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational on Feb. 22-24 at Gainesville, Fla.
