Men’s Swimming Heads to Dallas for Classic

DALLAS, Texas – – The LSU men’s swimming and diving team will compete in the Dallas Morning News Classic against some of the best swimmers and divers in the country Friday at Southern Methodist University.

The Tigers are 4-0, 1-0 in dual-meets on the season and have also performed very well in invitational competitions this year. In November the Tigers finished second in the Nike Cup Invitational which included top-ranked teams such as North Carolina and Texas A&M.

“It is a big honor for our team to get invited to this competition,” said head coach Rick Meador. “The best swimmers and divers from the best programs in the nation will be here competing at this event, and if our guys perform the way that they are capable of then we should do well.”

The Tigers that will be performing this weekend are Eddie Aguilar, Corey Fox, Steve Gluck, Carlton Greer, Ken Kuhn, Martin Latz, Neal Satterly, Tommy Starkweather, and Will Tanner. The teams are only allowed to bring two swimmers in each event to the competition due to the large number of participants, and Meador had a difficult time choosing who to bring.

“The decisions were tough to make because we have so many talented swimmers on this team,” said Meador. “I wish that I could have brought all twenty of them, but I chose a group that will give 110% in each event and that will do the best for the team.”

The Dallas Morning News Classic will begin Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will run through Saturday.
