Policy

Tents used for tailgating on LSU’s campus must comply with university safety standards and placement guidelines to ensure pedestrian safety, emergency access, and protection of campus infrastructure.

Safety Requirements

• Tent stakes are not permitted.
• Tents must be secured using approved weights or ballast systems.
• Tents must be installed in a manner that prevents movement during normal weather conditions.
• Tailgaters are responsible for ensuring tents remain properly secured at all times, including during inclement weather or high winds.

LSU reserves the right to require tents to be removed if they present a safety hazard.

Restrictions

Tents may not be placed in:
• Traffic lanes
• Sidewalks
• Emergency access routes
• Restricted landscaped areas
• Tents may not be used to reserve or save parking spaces.
• Tents may not display corporate logos or advertising unless approved by LSU Athletics

Liability for Damage

Tailgaters are responsible for any damage caused by tents or tent equipment to:
• University property
• Campus landscaping
• Buildings and structures
• Vehicles
• Personal property belonging to other guests.

This includes damage caused by improperly secured tents, tent structures, or weather-related movement. Individuals or groups responsible for damage will be required to pay for repairs or replacement costs.

Enforcement

Violations of tent policies will result in:
• Removal of the tent or equipment
• Loss of tailgating privileges
• Financial responsibility for property damage

Policy

Open fires are strictly prohibited on LSU’s campus. Open flames that are not part of contained cooking equipment present significant fire hazards and are not permitted.

Prohibited Open Flame Activities

The following open-flame activities are not permitted on campus:
• Bonfires
• Fire pits
• Burn barrels
• Cajun cookers or Cajun microwaves that create open ground fires.
• Open flame cooking apparatus where the fire touches the ground.
• Any similar open fire activity not associated with approved cooking equipment.

These activities present a risk to campus infrastructure, landscaping, vehicles, and surrounding tailgating areas.

Fire Safety Expectations

Tailgaters must ensure that:
• Open flames are properly contained within approved cooking equipment.
• Cooking equipment is attended while in use.
• Fire hazards are minimized at all times.

LSU reserves the right to require equipment to be shut down if unsafe fire conditions are observed.

Enforcement

Violations of open-flame safety policies will result in:
• Immediate extinguishing of the fire
• Removal of cooking equipment
• Citation by BRFD
• Loss of tailgating privileges

Policy

Outdoor cooking is permitted only when conducted using approved cooking equipment and in accordance with university fire safety guidelines. These requirements are intended to protect campus facilities, landscaping, and surrounding tailgaters while reducing fire and safety risks.

Outdoor cooking is permitted only using contained cooking equipment such as:
• Grills
• Smokers
• Fryers
• Blackstones

Cooking equipment will not exceed the size of a 55-gallon drum (23″ diameter x 35″ long). Cookers mounted on trailers are not allowed in reserved parking lots. Glass containers are strongly discouraged for use during tailgating activities.

Safety Requirements

Cooking equipment must:
• Be at least 10 feet from buildings and flammable materials.
• Be actively attended.
• Have a fire extinguisher available.
• Not be used inside buildings.

Location Restrictions

Cooking is not permitted:
• In travel lanes
• In parking spaces
• Under building entrances, patios, or covered walkways
• On Memorial Plaza or the War Memorial
• On exposed aggregate, ornamental concrete, or brick paver surfaces where grease may stain

Charcoal and Flammable Disposal

Charcoals and flammable materials must never be placed or dumped:
• In trash cans
• Under trees
• Near vehicles
• In landscaped areas
• Unattended in parking lots

Best Practices

Tailgaters should:
• Allow charcoal to cool before disposal.
• Use charcoal disposal containers.
• Collect grease in sealed containers.
• Dispose of grease properly or remove it from campus.

Best Practices for Generators

To promote safety in tailgating areas, the following generator practices are recommended:
• Generators should be operated in a manner that minimizes noise and exhaust exposure.
• Generators that create excessive noise will be required to be turned off.
• Generators should be positioned away from neighboring tailgates when possible.

These best practices help reduce safety risks and improve the tailgating experience for surrounding guests.

Policy

Music and amplified sound are permitted in tailgating areas provided they do not create a disruption to surrounding tailgaters, campus operations, or nearby residential areas. Sound levels must remain at reasonable volumes. Music must be turned off by 12:00 a.m. (midnight) on nights prior to Gamedays and by 2 a.m. following the game.

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are not permitted in tailgating areas:
• Live bands
• DJs or professional sound systems
• Stage setups
• Organized musical performances.

These restrictions help maintain a safe and respectful gameday environment for all guests.

Content Standards

• Music played in tailgating areas must remain appropriate for a family-friendly gameday environment.
• The use of explicit, vulgar, or offensive language or lyrics through amplified sound systems is not permitted.
• LSU reserves the right to require music or sound systems to be turned off if content violates these standards.

Volume Expectations

Tailgating music should remain at a level that:
• Does not disrupt nearby tailgating groups.
• Does not create public safety concerns.

LSU personnel will require sound levels to be reduced if complaints are received.

Reporting Concerns

Guests are encouraged to report issues related to excessive noise, inappropriate music, or other gameday concerns by:
• Using the LSU Gameday Texting Service

This allows Law Enforcement to quickly respond to issues and maintain a safe gameday environment.

Enforcement

Violations will result in:
• Request to reduce volume.
• Shutdown of sound equipment
• Removal of equipment
• Loss of tailgating privileges

If a complaint is reported through the gameday texting service, law enforcement will be dispatched to address the issue.

Policy

Trailer registration helps LSU maintain a safe and organized gameday environment and allows staff to quickly identify and contact trailer owners if any issues arise, including safety concerns, access needs, or operational adjustments.

All trailers brought onto LSU’s campus must be registered or permitted through LSU Athletics.

This requirement applies to all trailers, including:
• Personal trailers
• Tailgating trailers
• U-Haul or other rental trailers

Trailers that are not properly registered or permitted will not be allowed to remain on campus.

Trailer Permits & Decals

All trailers must have one of the following:
• A valid parking permit for the lot where the trailer is parked, or
• A registered trailer decal

Trailers that do not display a valid permit or decal will be subject to enforcement.

Exterior Campus Trailer Access

Registered trailers may enter and park in designated exterior areas of campus after 5:00 PM on Thursday prior to each home football game. Trailers may not occupy parking spaces in reserved lots without a valid permit for that specific lot.

Overnight Trailer Decals

Fans may purchase an Overnight Trailer Decal to allow trailers to enter campus after 4:30 PM on Friday and remain overnight in approved locations designated by LSU. Trailers parked in the area without an Overnight Decal are subject to being towed or booted. Fans may purchase permits online at www.LSUtix.net approximately one month prior to each individual home game.

Trailer Requirements

Trailers may not:
• Occupy parking spaces unless a valid parking permit has been purchased for that specific lot.
• Occupy multiple parking spaces.
• Exceed the size of a standard parking space.
• Block traffic lanes.
• Block pedestrian pathways.
• Obstruct emergency access routes.
• Park on or near Oak trees.

Enforcement

Any trailer or rental trailer (including U-Haul) that does not display a valid parking permit, trailer pass, or registered sticker will be subject to:
• Booting
• Towing
• Removal from campus

Repeat violations will result in loss of future parking privileges.

Policy

LSU Athletics defines an oversized vehicle as any vehicle other than a motor home that is more than 20 feet in length and/or more than 7 feet in width.

Permit Requirements

Oversized vehicle, bus, and limousine parking permits must be purchased in advance on a game-by-game basis.
• These permits provide access to Lot 412, the designated oversized vehicle parking area.
• Parking spaces in Lot 412 are limited and will sell out for high-demand games.

Designated Parking Location
• Oversized vehicles, buses, and limousines must park in Lot 412 on gameday.
• These vehicles are not permitted to park in any other campus parking lot.
• Motor homes are not permitted in Lot 412.

Passenger Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Passenger drop-off and pick-up for buses and limousines must occur in Lot 412.

Passenger loading or unloading is not permitted on:
• Roadways
• Emergency lanes
• Intersections

These restrictions help maintain safe traffic flow and emergency vehicle access during gameday operations.

ADA Transportation

An ADA shuttle service is available in Lot 406 to assist guests who require accessible transportation to and from Tiger Stadium near Lot 412.

Campus Access

Buses and limousines should approach campus via Nicholson Drive or River Road when traveling to Lot 412.
• Vehicles will not circulate through campus roadways before or after the game.
• Passengers should meet their bus or limousine at Lot 412 following the game.

Enforcement

Oversized vehicles parked in violation of LSU gameday parking policies will be subject to:
• Citation by LSU Police
• Relocation or towing
• Booting
• Loss of parking privileges

Policy

Motor homes and 5th wheels must comply with university operational and safety requirements to ensure safe vehicle operations, protect campus property, and maintain a respectful tailgating environment for all guests. These requirements apply to all motorhome and 5th wheel parking areas, including Lots 401, 408, 409, 413, and Touchdown Village. Motor homes may only park on LSU’s campus in the areas listed in this section. Motor homes must vacate the LSU campus by noon the day following games.

Parking Locations and Permits

Reserved motor home parking on a season basis is located in four areas on the LSU campus. To get on a request list for reserved motor home parking, register at LSUtix.net.
• Touchdown Village 1 – South Quad Drive across from Patrick Taylor Hall
• Lot 401 – Corner of South Stadium Drive and Nicholson Drive
• Lots 408 & 409 – Bullpen and Hall of Fame lots at Alex Box Stadium

Reserved motor home parking on a game-by-game basis is located in:
• Lot 413 (Single Game Motor Home Lot) – Located on River Road behind Tiger Park

Permits may be purchased at LSUtix.net or by contacting the LSU Ticket Office.

Opening Times

• Thursday at 9:00 a.m. – Lot 413 opens
• Friday at 9:00 a.m. – Lots 408 & 409 open
• Friday at 6:00 p.m. – Lot 401 and Touchdown Village open

Vehicle Use

Motorhome Lot Drop-Off Passes
Vehicles issued motorhome lot drop-off passes are permitted to enter the motorhome lot for temporary unloading only.

Drop-off vehicles:
• Will not park in the motorhome lot.
• Must exit the lot after unloading.
• Will not be allowed to enter the lot beginning 5.5 hours prior to kickoff.
• Must exit the lot no later than 5 hours prior to kickoff.

These restrictions help maintain safety as gameday crowds increase.

Passenger vehicles may be present in motorhome spaces only if:
• The vehicle fits completely within the assigned motorhome space

Vehicles may not:
• Extend into traffic lanes.
• Block pedestrian walkways.
• Obstruct emergency access routes.

Suggested Drop-Off Vehicle Paid Parking Locations:
• Touchdown Village – Old Front Nine
• Lots 408 & 409 – Golf Course
• Lot 413 – Lot 414

Safety Requirements

Motor homes and travel trailers must comply with the following:
• Motor homes must be turned off when parked.
• No dumping of camper waste tanks
• No dumping cooking oils or charcoal
• LSU utility usage is not permitted.

Best Practices for Generators

To promote safety in motorhome tailgating areas, the following generator practices are recommended:
• Gas-powered generators must use an exhaust stack extending above the camper roof to help disperse carbon monoxide gases.
• Generators should be operated in a manner that minimizes noise and exhaust exposure.
• Generators that create excessive noise will be required to be turned off.
• Generators should be positioned away from neighboring tailgates when possible.

These best practices help reduce safety risks and improve the tailgating experience for surrounding guests.

Quiet Hours

To maintain a safe and respectful environment excessive noise must cease during quiet hours:
• Friday (day prior to game): after 12:00 a.m. (midnight)
• Sunday (day after game): beginning at 2:00 a.m.
• DJ’s, live bands and performances are not permitted at any time.

Enforcement

Violations of motorhome tailgating policies will result in:
• Warning notices
• Equipment shutdown if unsafe conditions exist.
• Booting or towing vehicles
• Revocation of parking privileges

Policy

Vehicle access and personal transportation devices are restricted in certain areas of campus to maintain pedestrian safety, traffic flow, and emergency access. All vehicles and devices must comply with these restrictions and follow the direction of LSU Police, Parking & Transportation, and Athletics Event Operations personnel.

Motorhome Lot Vehicle Operations

Motorized vehicles operating within motorhome lots must comply with LSU safety requirements designed to protect pedestrians and maintain access for emergency vehicles.

The following vehicles are not permitted to operate within motorhome lots unless authorized for operational purposes:
• Golf carts
• ATVs
• Mopeds
• Go-carts
• Other recreational motorized vehicles

Pedestrian Safety Zones

The four corners surrounding Tiger Stadium become restricted pedestrian zones three (3) hours prior to kickoff until ~2 hours after the game ends.

During this time, the following devices are not permitted to operate within these areas:
• Bicycles
• Skateboards
• Motorized scooters
• Golf Carts without the proper permit.
• Other personal transportation devices

Skip Bertman Drive between Nicholson Drive and the railroad tracks as well as Nicholson Drive between North Stadium Drive and South Stadium Drive will be closed for ~45 minutes postgame. These restrictions help maintain pedestrian safety as large crowds gather near the stadium.

Enforcement

Vehicles or transportation devices operating in violation of gameday transportation policies will be subject to:
• Removal from the area
• Citation by LSU Police
• Loss of access privileges
• Towing or Booting

Policy

Tailgaters are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe tailgating environment and properly disposing of trash and recyclable materials. LSU provides waste receptacles and trash bags throughout campus to support responsible cleanup efforts.

Tailgaters may be held financially responsible for costs associated with excessive cleanup, waste removal, or damage resulting from their tailgating activities.

It is the responsibility of each tailgate party to secure tailgate items prior to entering the stadium. Tailgaters should lock food, beverages and valuables out of sight in vehicles; extinguish all fires or flames; unplug electrical outlets; secure barbecue pits, chairs, and ice chests; and store beverages in locked containers. LSU Athletics is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Trash and Recycling

Tailgaters can help keep campus clean by:
• Bagging trash
• Using recycling containers

The Facility Services Department distributes 4,500 trash cans across campus on gamedays.

Policy

Campus buildings must remain secure to protect university property, ensure safety, and support campus operations. Access to campus buildings is limited and controlled, and tailgaters will only enter buildings that are officially designated as open for restroom use.

Building Access

• Most campus buildings remain closed to the public during football gamedays.
• Some buildings will have designated entrances open and staffed by security personnel to provide access to restrooms only.
• These locations are monitored and do not provide access to the full building.
• Guests should not roam through buildings or attempt to access restricted areas.

Building Security Expectations

To maintain building security during gameday:
• Doors must not be propped open.
• Tailgaters will not access buildings to use electrical outlets.
• Tailgaters will not enter buildings for private use or tailgating purposes.
• Employees with building access should not allow tailgaters into buildings for restroom use, power access, or other gameday activities.

Enforcement

Unauthorized entry into campus buildings will result in:
• Removal from the building
• Citation by LSU Police
• Loss of tailgating privileges

Policy

Restroom and sanitation services on LSU’s campus are provided and managed by the university to ensure a safe, clean, and consistent gameday environment. Guests are expected to utilize designated facilities and maintain sanitary conditions throughout tailgating areas.

Portable Restrooms (Port-o-Lets)

Portable restrooms (port-o-lets) are not permitted to be brought onto campus. For guest convenience, LSU provides approximately 320 port-o-lets, 2 restroom trailers, access to restrooms in four campus buildings, and 11 satellite restroom locations across parking areas throughout campus.

Sanitation Expectations

Guests are expected to use designated restroom facilities provided throughout campus. Public urination or other unsanitary conduct is prohibited and may result in enforcement action by LSU Police and university personnel.

Enforcement

Unauthorized placement of portable restrooms or violations of sanitation policies will result in:
• Removal of equipment
• Loss of tailgating privileges
• Citation by law enforcement

Policy

Tailgaters are responsible for protecting university property and the property of other guests. LSU is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unattended items left on campus. Individuals or groups that cause damage or theft to campus infrastructure, landscaping, or personal property will be held financially responsible for repairs, replacement, or restitution.

This includes damage or loss from, but not limited to:
• Tents
• Trailers
• Cooking equipment
• Vehicles
• Tailgating structures

All tailgating equipment and personal property must be removed from campus following gameday activities. Any items remaining on campus after 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Sunday will be removed and disposed of by LSU staff.

Enforcement

LSU reserves the right to enforce all gameday policies to ensure safety and protect campus property.

Enforcement actions will include:
• Verbal warnings
• Equipment removal
• Booting vehicles or trailers
• Towing vehicles
• Revocation of parking privileges
• Financial liability for property damage, theft, or loss of property

Policy

Parking on LSU’s campus during football gamedays is regulated to ensure safe traffic flow, maximize parking availability, and protect campus infrastructure. All vehicles must comply with designated parking areas, signage, and instructions from LSU Police and Parking Services personnel.

Reserved Season Parking

Parking in the green, blue, pink, orange, and gold zones of the parking map is reserved season parking.

Parking permits for these lots are issued annually to football season ticket holders through a request list using the LSU Priority Point System. The request list is available each year at LSUtix.net.

Free Public Parking

Free public parking areas on campus are indicated in grey on the parking map.

Availability is limited and first-come, first-served. All areas are subject to closure due to weather or other circumstances

ADA Parking

Free ADA parking is located at the back of Lot 406, behind Tiger Park and next to the LSU Soccer Stadium.
• Entry is off Gourrier Avenue
• Spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis
• A valid state-issued ADA hang tag and/or ADA driver’s license must be presented

An ADA shuttle is provided to and from Tiger Stadium for guests parking in Lot 406.

Paid ADA parking is available in the Nicholson Gateway Garage.
• Parking may be purchased on a game-by-game basis at www.LSUtix.net
• Guests must present a valid ADA hang tag or ADA driver’s license upon arrival

No Parking Areas and Restrictions

Parts of campus are designated as “No Parking” areas and are clearly marked with signage. These areas are strictly enforced.

Vehicles must remain within the white lines of a designated parking space unless otherwise directed by LSU Police or Parking Services.

Nicholson Drive Parking

Vehicles may not park along the shoulders of Nicholson Drive between West Chimes and Brightside. Vehicles parked in these areas will be towed. Tailgating may occur along Nicholson Drive; however, vehicles may not park next to the street

Railroad Safety

A live railroad track runs adjacent to Nicholson Drive through campus. Vehicles are prohibited from parking adjacent to railroad tracks.

Saving Parking Spaces

Saving parking spaces for other motorists is not permitted in any area.

Inclement Weather

LSU Athletics reserves the right to adjust parking operations based on weather conditions or lot conditions.

Enforcement

Vehicles parked in violation of LSU parking policies will be subject to:
• Citation by LSU Police
• Towing or relocation
• Loss of parking privileges

Failure to comply with posted signage, designated parking areas, or instructions from LSU personnel may result in enforcement action.

Policy

All commercial activity, vendor services, promotional efforts, and organized tailgating operations on LSU’s campus during gameday must be approved and coordinated through the university to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, safety standards, and campus operations.

Unauthorized commercial activity, solicitation, or promotion is prohibited.

Catering

Caterers must have valid parking permits and credentials to access reserved parking areas. Dropping off tailgate orders or supplies without a permit is not permitted. Caterers without proper credentials will be denied access to campus

Commercial Tailgating

All corporate or commercial tailgate activities, including allocation of space and provision of services, are managed by LSU Sports Properties.

Food Sales and Vendors

Companies and individuals may not sell, distribute, or provide food, samples, or products without proper university approval and licensing. Unauthorized food sales or distribution are strictly prohibited.

Political Activity

Political activity is subject to the same rules that apply to signage, banners, solicitation, distribution of literature, and other non-LSU activities on campus.

Distribution of flyers, stickers, buttons, signs, or promotional items is prohibited without approval by LSU Administration.

Solicitation

Solicitations of any kind — including commercial, non-profit, or political — within LSU facilities or on LSU premises are prohibited unless specifically approved by LSU Administration.

Distribution of flyers or leaflets on parked vehicles is expressly prohibited

Signage and Banners

Banners and signage recognizing businesses may not be displayed, nor may promotional or commercial materials be distributed without prior approval by LSU Administration.

Non-commercial messages are permitted with reasonable restrictions to protect safety and pedestrian access.
• Signs must not exceed 2 feet in any dimension
• Signs must remain within the immediate tailgating area
• Signs must not block walkways or pedestrian paths
• Individuals must be present with signage at all times

Tents, Canopies, and Displays (Corporate Branding)

Tent canopies may not display corporate logos, advertising, or promotional branding. Tents must be plain or generic in appearance. Violators will be required to remove or cover prohibited branding.

Enforcement

Violations of commercial activity, vendor, solicitation, or signage policies will result in:
• Denial of access to campus
• Removal of materials, equipment, or signage
• Revocation of tailgating or vendor privileges
• Additional enforcement by LSU Athletics and/or LSU Police

Shuttle service will be provided, and details will be updated each week prior to home games on LSUsports.net/gameday. Pickup location will be at lot 406.

The drop-off location will be in lot 101 and the post-game pick up location will be in front of Nicholson Gateway. Shuttles will be available throughout the game until approximately 90 minutes after the game for return service to lot 406.

Several local establishments traditionally provide bus service to LSU football games. Fans in the Baton Rouge area may consult their local media for locations to catch shuttle buses to Tiger Stadium on game day or watch LSUsports.net/gameday for updates.

Fans choosing to use a rideshare service to and from the game will be dropped off and picked up in Lot 406.

Rideshare services are subject to all campus parking and traffic guidelines and may not operate in restricted areas or along interior campus roadways. Fans are encouraged to be familiar with the campus map and remain aware of their surroundings when utilizing rideshare services before and after the game.

Policy

The use, operation, or possession of remote-controlled aircraft, drones, or unmanned aerial systems (UAS) is strictly prohibited on all areas of the LSU campus, including gamedays and gameday-related activities. All campus grounds, tailgating areas, parking lots, and facilities are included under this restriction.

Prohibited Activities

The following are not permitted:
• Operating drones or unmanned aircraft
• Launching or landing drones on campus
• Possessing drones for recreational or personal use during gameday operations

Exceptions

Use of drones is permitted only when authorized by LSU for:
• Law enforcement
• Public safety operations
• University-approved activities

Enforcement

Violations of drone policies will result in:
• Immediate removal of the device
• Citation by LSU Police
• Possible confiscation of equipment
• Loss of tailgating privileges
• Unauthorized drone use may also be subject to state and federal penalties.
