Missed the entire 2001 season after having elbow surgery in the off-season … Has made a complete recovery and returns to the Tigers’ lineup in 2002.
Sophomore season (2000)
Became the first Tiger in nearly a decade to win the SEC title in the javelin, while also becoming the Tigers’ first All-American in the event in nearly the same stretch … Won the SEC javelin title with a PR of 231-8, the Tigers’ first champion in the event since 1991 … Finished eighth at the NCAA Championships with a throw of 218-6 … Opened the 2000 season with a solid 220-7 throw to win the title at the US Collegiate Series in Baton Rouge, a PR for him at the time … Finished fourth at the Texas Relays with a throw of 218-9.
Freshman season (1999)
The SEC runner-up in the javelin as a freshman, came up with a huge PR of 213-5 to just miss taking the title … Throw ranked fifth on the all-time LSU list … Came up with wins in his first two collegiate outings, claiming the title at the SEC Quadrangular in New Orleans (202-11), then following that with a victory at the U.S. Collegiate Track & Field Series in Baton Rouge (209-10) … Finished eighth in a world class field at the UTEP Invitational with a then-PR throw of 210-11 … Finished third at the LSU Alumni Gold Relays (206-8) and sixth at the Penn Relays (198-10).
Prep career
Another of the highly touted Louisiana recruits the Tigers were able to keep in state, he was the Louisiana State Champion in the discus in 1996 and 1998 and was the runner-up in 1997 … Finished third in the javelin at the state meet in 1997 … Won four varsity letters in track and field and two in football at St. Thomas More High School.
