2003 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team

Joined the LSU program in January, 2003, and made an immediate impact as the Tigers’ starting third baseman . . . may be the starter at second base, his natural position, in 2004 . . . played for three weeks during the fall of 2003 with the Canadian National Team . . . the 21st-round selection of the Houston Astros in the 2002 major league draft . . . also selected in the 40th round of the 2000 draft by the Montreal Expos.

2003 Season
Played in 67 games (61 starts), batting .320 (82-for-256) on the year with 14 doubles, five triples, six homers, 53 RBI and 59 runs scored . . . started 53 games at third base and eight games at second base . . . finished No. 2 in the SEC in triples and No. 7 in runs scored . . . hit .323 (30-for-93) with runners in scoring position . . . batted .304 (34-for-112) in SEC regular-season games with six doubles, two triples, two homers, 27 RBI and 25 runs . . . hitless in nine at-bats in the College World Series . . . 4- for-13 in the NCAA Super Regional versus Baylor with one homer and one RBI . . . the home run game in the eighth inning of Game 2 of the Super Regional, a solo shot which broke a 5-5 tie and lifted LSU to a 6-5 win . . . named to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional all-tournament team after batting .533 (8-for-15) with two doubles, one homer, five RBI and six runs . . . 4-for-5 in regional victory over Tulane (May 31) with two doubles, one homer, three RBI and four runs . . . for the entire NCAA Tournament, he batted .324 (12-for-37) with two doubles, two homers, six RBI and nine runs . . . 5-for-12 (.417) in the SEC Tournament with one double, four RBI and three runs . . . for the entire postseason, he was LSU’s third-leading hitter, batting .347 (17-for-49) with three doubles, two homers, 10 RBI and 12 runs . . . posted a team-best 19-game hitting streak from Feb. 11-March 21; batted .387 (29-for-75) during the streak with 17 RBI and 15 runs scored . . . launched first career LSU homer, a two-run blast, in win over Houston (Feb. 23).

Played two seasons at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla., where he recorded a .400 career batting average . . . batted .370 in 2002 with 16 homers, 56 RBI and 78 hits.
