Transfer from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., who will contend for the starting job at catcher this season after earning nine starts behind the plate in 2001 … received a medical red-shirt at Northwestern State in 2000 due to shoulder surgery.

2001 Season: Appeared in 25 games (nine starts) for the Tigers, batting .190 (8-for-42) with two doubles and four RBI … registered a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 105 chances (99 put-outs, six assists) … enjoyed an outstanding LSU debut, he was 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI in the season opener vs. Kansas State (Feb. 10) … 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in win over Houston (Feb. 18). 

High School: Earned two letters in baseball (catcher, pitcher) and two in football (quarterback, punter) at Captain Shreve High in Shreveport … a two-time all-district and all-city selection in baseball … also earned all-district honors in football … batted .460 in his senior season with one homer and 16 RBI.
