Outfielder with exceptional speed and superb offensive and defensive skills … was granted a medical red-shirt in 2000 after suffering a broken collarbone in the sixth game of the season versus Arizona State (Feb. 19) … came back at full strength for the 2001 season, as he earned 41 starts in the outfield and projects as LSU’s starting center fielder in 2002 … the 19th-round selection of the Cleveland Indians in the 1998 major league draft … comes from junior college which produced former LSU pitchers Jake Esteves (1996-98) and Brandon Bowe (1998-99), former Tiger catcher Conan Horton (1996-97) and current LSU pitchers Jake Tompkins and David Shank. 

2001 Season: Appeared in 62 games (41 starts), batting .324 (48-for-148) with 13 doubles, one triple, four homers, 30 RBI, 42 runs and 11 steals … batted .308 (24-for-78) in SEC regular-season games with six doubles, one triple, two homers, 15 RBI and 22 runs … 3-for-10 wtih two doubles, one homer and two RBI in NCAA Super Regional vs. Tulane … hit .364 (4-for-11) in NCAA Baton Rouge Regional with two RBI and five runs … 2-for-11 in the SEC Tournament with two doubles, three RBI and three runs … hit a cumulative .281 (9-for-32) in all post-season games with four doubles, one homer, seven RBI and 10 runs … 4-for-5 with one homer, one triple, four RBI and three runs vs. Auburn (May 11) … 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI vs. Duquesne (Feb. 24) … 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI at Georgia (March 10). 

2000 Season: Played in five games as LSU’s starting right fielder before suffering the season-ending collarbone injury versus Arizona State (Feb. 19) … batted .250 (5-for-20) on the year with three doubles, six RBI, five runs and two steals. 

Junior College: A JUCO all-American center fielder at Sacramento City College, where he helped lead the squad to the California state championship in 1998 and 1999 … named the Bay Valley Conference Player of the Year in 1998 and the Sacramento City College Male Athlete of the Year in 1999 … earned Governor’s academic honor roll recognition in ’98 and ’99. 

High School: Earned four baseball letters at Apex (N.C.) High, where he was selected first-team all-state on two occasions … also a two-time conference MVP. Personal: Full name is David Foy Raymer Jr… . parents are David and Sharon Raymer … has three older brothers, Carson, Ryan and Chris … interests include fishing, weightlifting, dancing and golf … chose to attend LSU because it has “excellent baseball tradition with excellent support” … majoring in general studies … born November 5, 1978.
