2000 Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll

Received his bachelor’s degree in general studies in the Spring of 2003.

Outstanding athlete who brings great speed and range to the LSU outfield …will contend for the starting centerfielder job in 2001…played very well in LSU’s fall 2000 intra-squad games, batting .347 (17-for-49) with one double, three RBI and 16 stolen bases…suffered a dislocated left shoulder, which required surgery, in the first week of ’99 fall practice…rehabilitated the shoulder during the fall and played a significant role for the Tigers in the 2000 national championship season…red-shirted as a true freshman in 1999…a member of the 2000 SEC Academic Honor Roll with a 3.1 gpa in kinesiology…a recipient of the 1998-99 LSU Athletic Director’s Cup for academic excellence.

2000 Season
Appeared in 35 games (one start), mostly as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement…batted .125 (1-for-8) with one double, three RBI and six steals…the double scored three runs in LSU’s 17-4 win at Vanderbilt on March 18.

High School
Lettered four years in baseball at Lafayette High, where he earned all-district 3-5A, all-Acadiana and all-state Class 5A honors in 1997 and ’98…was named team captain and best offensive player in his junior and senior seasons, and was named best defensive player as a sophomore, a year when he earned second team all-district accolades…batted .453 with four homers, 19 RBI, 39 stolen bases and a .676 on-base percentage as a senior…lettered three years in football at quarterback, earning offensive MVP honors as a senior, leading the Mighty Lions to two state playoff appearances…coached in baseball by Sam Taulli and in football by Bobby Green…high school teammate of LSU pitcher Sam Taulli.
