POST-LSU CAREER
Won a gold medal with the 2000 U.S. Olympic team in Sydney, Australia … Named the Giants’ No. 1 minor league prospect in 2000 … Debuted in the major leagues with the Giants on Sept. 5, 2001 … Part of the Giants’ starting rotation during his rookie season in 2003 … In three season with the Giants, Ainsworth was 6-6 with a 3.56 ERA in 19 appearances including 15 starts … Threw 93.2 innings and allowed 41 runs (37 earned) on 91 hits with 66 strikeouts and 40 walks … Traded to the Baltimore Orioles on July 31, 2003.

1999 FIRST-YEAR PLAYER MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL DRAFT
Became the seventh LSU player in history to be drafted in the first round (24th overall pick by the San Francisco Giants).

SOPHOMORE SEASON (1999)
Ainsworth was named a 1999 first-team all-American by Baseball America magazine, as he posted a 13-6 mark and a 3.45 ERA with 157 strikeouts in 130.1 innings … he was voted first-team all-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sportswriters Association … Ainsworth was named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll with a 3.416 gpa in management information systems … Ainsworth was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 1999 NCAA Regional at Baton Rouge, recording victories over Northeast Louisiana and East Carolina to lead LSU into the “Sweet 16” NCAA Super Regional round … he was voted SEC Pitcher of the Week after defeating Kentucky on May 14 in a complete-game, six-hit outing with 11 strikeouts … he recorded 16 strikeouts in a complete-game victory at Tennessee on April 2, marking the second-highest strikeout total in LSU’s modern history … enjoyed a phenomenal 1998 fall practice session, emerging as the Tigers’ No. 1 pitcher heading into the 1999 season … in 27.1 innings during fall practice, Ainsworth recorded a 1.65 ERA with 44 strikeouts, 12 walks and a .167 opponents’ batting average.

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN SEASON (1998)
Pitched on a limited basis … pitched eight innings during the season, as he worked to recover from elbow surgery in the summer of ’97 … recorded no decisions and a 4.50 ERA in six relief appearances … registered 14 strikeouts and seven walks in the eight innings of work.

FRESHMAN SEASON (1997)
Underwent surgery on his right elbow in the summer of 1997 … doctors reconstructed the ulnar collateral ligament in the elbow, know as “Tommy John surgery” … prior to the surgery, he fired a no-hitter in June of 1997 as a member of the Danville Dans of the Central Illinois Collegiate League … was redshirted as an LSU true freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL
Lettered two years as a pitcher, second baseman and shortstop for Baton Rouge’s Catholic High … led Bears to the District 4-5A championship in 1995 … named to the LHSCA All-State first team and to the LSWA’s honorable mention All-State squad in 1996 … played in the Louisiana All-Star game… won the student-athlete and Catholic High Man of the Year awards as a senior … coached by Gerry Garidel.
