Jaiden Reid and Athaleyha Hinckson Earn Southeastern Conference Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – LSU track & field’s Jaiden Reid and Athaleyha Hinckson were named with weekly honors by the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Jaiden Reid earned his first honors of the season after making his 100-meter debut last weekend at the Hurricane Invitational. This marks back-to-back weeks that a Tiger has claimed men’s runner of the week after freshman Malachi Austin did so at the LSU Opener.

Reid clocked an SEC-leading and NCAA No. 2 time of 10.10 seconds (+2.8) to win in Coral Gables last week. The Caymanian holds a personal-best time of 10.02 seconds, which he will be looking to break this season.

The women’s freshman of the week honor went to none other than the indoor First Team All-American sprinter, Athaleyha Hinckson.

Hinckson opened her individual season with a win and a time of 11.25 seconds in the 100 meter at the Hurricane Invitational. She ranks No. 2 in the NCAA and No. 1 in the SEC. The time was a Guyanese U20 national record, No. 3 U20 time in the world for 2026 and No. 4 time in South American U20 history.
