Ofili Secures Bronze at U20 World Championships

Nairobi, Kenya – LSU track and field sprinter Favour Ofili won a bronze medal at the U20 World Championships on Saturday in Kenya with the best race of her life in the 200 meters.

She clocked a personal best of 22.23 which earned her the bronze behind Olympic silver medalist Christine Mboma (21.84) and Beatrice Masilingi (22.18). The 22.23 by Ofili is a Nigerian U20 record, the third fastest every by an African U20 athlete, and it ranks No. 6 on the all-time U20 world list. It also moves her up to sole possession of the No. 4 slot on the LSU all-time list.

Ofili isn’t done just quite yet as she will line up in the 4×100 meter relay for Nigeria on Sunday. Godson Ogenebrume will run for the Nigerian’s men’s 4×100 meter relay, and Garriel White will run the finals of the 400 meter hurdles to close out competition at the U20 World Championships.
