BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team is spending the Thanksgiving weekend in the islands at the Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas. The Lady Tigers will face No. 15 Michigan State in Friday’s game at 4:15 p.m. CT, then Kansas State or Memphis on Saturday. Game time on Saturday will be 3:30 or 5:45 p.m.
Both games will be live streamed by the subscription service FloHoops. Tom James and LaChina Robinson will call the games from Gateway Christian Academy in Bimini. Fans can also listen to Patrick Wright call the games on the LSU Sports Radio Network. Wright is in his 30th season as the “Voice of the Lady Tigers”. LSU Update
The Lady Tigers are 5-1 on the season after a hard-fought 64-58 victory against Rutgers on Sunday night. Senior Ayana Mitchell picked up her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, leading all scorers. Junior Faustine Aifuwa had a strong night in the paint with 16 points and seven rebounds, while junior Khayla Pointer drove to the basket for 12 points. Pointer also grabbed four rebounds and four steals, while dishing out three assists
For Aifuwa, it was the eighth consecutive game that the center from Dacula, Georgia, has scored in double figures, going back to the final two games of the 2018-19 season.
Pointer is leading LSU with 14.5 points and 4.0 assists per game, while Aifuwa is second on the squad with 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Mitchell, a Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy candidate, is averaging 12.5 points and team-leading 9.7 rebounds this season.
LSU continues its solid play on scoring defense, holding teams to 55.5 points per game. The Lady Tigers have held two opponents to 50 points or under twice and five opponents under 60 so far this season.
The Opponents – Junkanoo Jam (Bimini Division)
Michigan State is undefeated on the season, including a 72-69 road win at 2019 national runner-up Notre Dame on Nov. 14. The Spartans are led by sophomore guard Nia Clouden and senior guard Taryn McCutcheon with 16.0 and 12.4 points per game, respectively. Senior Shay Colley has spent the last few weeks competing with the Canadian National Team in Olympic Prequalifier Tournaments. This will be the first meeting between the Tigers and Spartans since Nov. 15, 2007. LSU leads the series, 3-0.
Kansas State is 3-1 and is on the road for the first time this season. The Wildcats started the seasons 3-0 before a rare home loss on Sunday to UT Arlington. K-State is led by sophomore guard Christianna Carr with 18.5 points per game, while three other players also average double figures – senior forward Peyton Williams (13.7), junior guard Rachel Ranke (13.7) and redshirt freshman center Ayoka Lee (12.5). Kansas State leads the series with LSU, 4-2.
Memphis brings a two-game win streak into the tournament. The Tigers are led by sophomore guard Jamirah Shutes with 16.8 points per game and freshman guard Madison Griggs at 10.8 points per game. The Tigers vs. Tigers series is knotted at 2-2.

Geaux Clear at the PMAC
Fans are reminded that the Geaux Clear Policy will be in effect for all LSU women’s basketball home games. Diaper bags must be clear and no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Backpacks, including drawstring/synch bags are strictly prohibited.
Fans with medically-necessary items will be allowed to enter the PMAC following a more thorough search at the designated inspection points. The lower level inspection will take place at the southeast corner entrance near the elevator and upper level inspection is available at the South concourse near the Ticket Office.
