Barbaree Finishes Tied Seventh at Sun Bowl All-America Golf Classic

Baton Rouge, La. Philip Barbaree wrapped up the two-day 2019 Sun Bowl All-America Golf Classic with a tie for seventh place on Tuesday afternoon. Fellow LSU men’s golfer Garrett Barber finished tied for 19th. The tournament, one of the highest regarded amateur events in the country, was hosted at the El Paso Country Club in Texas and played as a par 71 at 6,889 yards.

Barbaree’s final tally was a 6-under 207 (68-68-71) to earn his seventh-place showing. Barbaree had 14 birdies in the 54-hole event to rank sixth in the field. Barber finished tied for 19th with a score of 1-under 212 (68-71-73); he had a tournament high 39 pars at the event. Texas Tech’s Ludvig Aberg ran away with the title shooting at 13-under 200 to clear the field of 37 players by four strokes.

Barbaree, Barber, and the rest of the LSU men’s golf squad will be back in action in 2020 at the Southwestern Invitational (Jan. 27-28) in Westlake Village, California.
