Tigers Send 43 To Friday Finals

DALLAS –  A total of 43 Tigers qualified for Friday Finals at the SMU Invitational as well as the Art Adamson Invitational. Finals for the SMU Invite will begin tonight at 6:00 p.m. CT for the swim team and at 3:00 p.m. CT at the Art Adamson Invite for the diving squad. 

400-Yard IM

For the women, Alexandria Ham qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in fourth place with a time of 4:23.22. Jolee Liles qualified for the ‘B’ Final after touching the wall in 4:30.07 to finish in 12th place. All three men also qualified for Finals tonight. David Boylan and Isak Vikstrom placed second and third with times of 3:55.83 and 3:55.95 to qualify for the ‘A’ Final. Brian McGroarty will swim in the ‘C’ Final after placing 21st with a time of 4:10.98.

200-Yard Freestyle

All nine women qualified for Final swims. Katarina Milutinovich, Summer Stanfield, and Kit Hanley qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in first, third, and fourth place with times of 1:48.39, 1:49.96, and 1:50.15. Alyssa Helak and Natalie Kucsan qualified for the ‘B’ Final after placing 12th and 16th with times of 1:51.75 and 1:52.14. Emily Van De Wiele qualified for the ‘C’ Final with a time of 1:53.23. Lexi Daniels, Kylie Bennett, and Johannah Cangelosi all qualified for the ‘D’ Final with times of 1:53.46, 1:53.68, and 1:54.30.

For the men, Brooks Curry and Ben Hooper qualified for the ‘A’ Final after placing second and eighth with times of 1:37.52 and 1:38.87. Lewis Clough and Keagan Finley qualified for the ‘B’ Final after finishing in 10th and 15th place with times of 1:39.08 and 1:40.52. Trent Schachter, Michael Petro, and Thomas Roark all qualified for the ‘C’ Final after placing 19th, 22nd, and 23rd with times of 1:41.18, 1:41.90, and 1:42.27. Julian Norman qualified for the ‘D’ Final after placing 25th with a time of 1:42.27.

100-Yard Breaststroke

Olivia Paskulin, Niamh Robinson, Ellen Pack, and Emily Pye all qualified for the ‘A’ Final. Paskulin finished first with a time of 1:01.67, Robinson swam the eighth best time in school history of 1:01.89 to finish second, Pack placed seventh with a time of 1:02.24, and Pye finished in eighth place with a time of 1:04.45. Olivia Taylor and Maddie Clifton qualified for the ‘B’ Final after placing 12th and 15th with times of 1:04.74 and 1:04.95. Allie McDaid qualified for the ‘C’ Final with a time of 1:05.47.

All five men advanced to this evenings finals as Jack Jannasch and Luca Pfyffer qualified for the ‘A’ Final, Jeff Snoddy and Cameron Karkoska qualified for the ‘B’ Final, and Brian McGroarty qualified for the ‘D’ Final. Jannasch finished in fourth place with a time of 55.16, Pfyffer in seventh place with a 55.43, Snoddy in 11th place with a 55.71, Karkoska in 16th place with a 56.72, and McGroarty in 28th place with a 1:01.86. 

100-Yard Backstroke

Cassie Kalisz qualified for the Women’s ‘A’ Final after swimming the second fastest time in school history, 52.89, to win the prelim. Ellie Baldwin, Brittany Thompson, and Ham qualified for the ‘B’ Final after finishing in ninth, 10th, and 16th place with times of 55.82, 55.87, and 56.52. Van De Wiele, Grace Horton, and Katie Smith qualified for the ‘C’ Final after placing 19th, 22nd, and 23rd with times of 56.75, 56.92, and 57.31.

For the men, Matt Klotz swam a 47.00 to propell to number four all time in school history and to qualify for the ‘A’ Final. Miguel Velasquez also qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in sixth place with a time of 48.99. David Wahlen qualified for the ‘B’ Final after placing 15th with a time of 49.86.

Men’s One-Meter Springboard

In College Station, Dakota Hurbis and Manny Vazquez Bas qualified for finals on one-meter springboard. Hurbis dove to a score of 305.85 to finish in fourth and Vazquez dove to a score of 281.25 to place eighth.

Women’s Three-Meter Springboard

Aimee Wilson set a new career best on the event to win the prelim with a score of 378.30. Wilson currently holds the second best score in LSU history. Anne Tuxen finished in ninth place with a score of 274.70 and Hayley Montague finished in 15th place with a score of 221.00.
