DALLAS – The LSU Tigers dominated the prelim session Thursday morning between the SMU Invitational and the Art Adamson Invitational. Finals will begin Thursday evening at 6 p.m. CT in Dallas for the swim team and at 3 p.m. CT in College Station for the diving squad.
Women’s 100-Yard Butterfly
All six Tigers qualified for the finals in 100-Yard Fly. Helen Grossman led the way by finishing second with a time of 53.52 and qualifying for the ‘A’ Final. Cassie Kalisz finished in fourth place with a 54.71, Nicole Rozier finished in sixth place with a 54.72, and Ellie Baldwin touched the wall in 54.89 to place seventh and round out the Tigers qualifying for the ‘A’ Final. Olivia Taylor swam a 55.48 to place tenth, and Natalie Kucsan finished in 16th place with a time of 56.35, which is a personal best, to qualify for the ‘B’ Final.
Men’s 100-Yard Butterfly
Lewis Clough swam the best prelim time in the event, touching the wall in 47.80 to set a new personal best, and qualify for the ‘A’ Final. Michael Petro and Ben Hooper also qualified for the ‘A’ Final by placing sixth and seventh with times of 48.99 and 49.04. Trent Schachter and Miguel Velasquez qualified for the ‘B’ Final by placing 11th and 14th with times of 49.33 and 49.55. Thomas Spradley qualified for the ‘C’ Final by placing 20th with a time of 49.77.
Women’s 500-Yard Freestyle
Jolee Liles and Lexi Daniels finished in second and third place with times of 4:50.82 and 4:51.90 to qualify for the ‘A’ Final. That time for Liles secures the tenth best time in school history. Alyssa Helak and Kit Hanley both qualified for the ‘B’ Final after placing tenth and 15th with times of 4:57.90 and 4:58.83. Kylie Bennett qualified for the ‘C’ Final after touching the wall in 4:59.32 to finish in 18th place.
Men’s 500-Yard Freestyle
All four Tigers qualified for final swims tonight. Isak Vikstrom qualified for the ‘A’ Final after placing sixth with a time of 4:28.17. Keagan Finley touched the wall in 4:34.04 to finish in 11th place and qualify for the ‘B’ Final. Brian McGroarty and Julian Norman qualified both qualified for the ‘C’ Final with times of 4:40.18 and 4:42.10 to finish in 18th and 20th place, respectively.
Women’s 200-Yard IM
Five Tigers qualified for the ‘A’ Final. Nimah Robinson won the prelims while also securing the eighth best time in LSU history with a 1:58.92. Summer Stanfield, Brittany Thompson, Olivia Paskulin, and Nicole Rozier also qualified for the ‘A’ Final. Maddie Clifton nd Alexandria Ham touched the wall in 2:03.36 and 2:04.83 to qualify for the ‘B’ Final. Emily Pye swam a 2:07.61 to qualify for the ‘C’ Final.
Men’s 200-Yard IM
All three Tigers qualified for final swims. David Boylan and Luca Pfyffer qualified for the ‘A’ Final with times of 1:49.58 and 1:49.86 to finish in sixth and seventh. Cameron Karkoska swam a 1:51.79 to finish in 15th place and qualify for the ‘B’ Final.
Women’s 50-Yard Freestyle
Katarina Milutinovich swam the ninth best time in LSU history to qualify for the ‘A’ Final. The freshman touched the wall in 22.80. Olivia Taylor and Helen Grossman also qualified for the ‘A’ Final. Taylor finished second with a time of 22.99 and Grossman finished sixth with a time of 23.24. Natalie Kucsan and Grace Horton both qualified for the ‘B’ Final as Kuscan finished in ninth place with a 23.38 and Horton finished in 11th place with a 23.55. Katie Smith and Emily Van De Wiele qualified for the ‘C’ Final as Smith touched the wall in 23.81 and Van De Wiele touched the wall in 23.82 to finish in 17th and 18th place.
Men’s 50-Yard Freestyle
Matt Klotz, Brooks Curry, and Jack Jannasch finished 1-2-3 in the event to qualify for the ‘A’ Final. Klotz touched the wall 19.68, Curry in 20.06, and Jannasch in 20.28. Jeff Snoddy qualified for the ‘B’ Final by placing 15th with a time of 21.06. Thomas Roark and Thomas Spradley qualified for the ‘C’ Final by placing 21st and 24th with times of 21.16 and 21.24. David Wahlen qualified the ‘D’ Final with a time of 21.30 to come in 26th place.
Women’s One-Meter Springboard
At the Art Adamson, Aimee Wilson won the one-meter prelim with a score of 306.45 to advance to the finals tonight in College Station. Anne Tuxen placed eighth with a score of 256.40 and Hayley Montague came in ninth place with a score of 252.95. Montague will dive in the finals tonight.
Men’s Three-Meter Springboard
Manny Vazquez Bas and Dakota Hurbis both qualified for the three-meter finals. Vazquez Bas finished fifth in the prelim with a score of 332.80 and Hurbis finished sixth with a score of 291.90.
