Women’s Basketball Takes On Tulane In New Orleans

BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team continues its road travels with an 81-mile trip down I-10 to New Orleans. LSU will face Tulane at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse on Sunday, November 17 at 4 p.m.

The Lady Tigers are 2-1 on the season after a 65-50 road victory at Little Rock on Wednesday. Junior Khayla Pointer posted her second consecutive game with 22 points and six assists in the win. Center Faustine Aifuwa recorded her third consecutive game of double-figure scoring with 12 points and blocked a season-high three shots against the Trojans. It was the second time in the young season that LSU held an opponent to 50 points or less.

Pointer is leading LSU with 17.7 points and 5.0 assists per game, while Aifuwa is second on the squad with 12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Senior Ayana Mitchell, a Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy candidate, is averaging 11.3 points and team-leading 8.3 rebounds to start the season.

Tulane is 2-1 with wins against Jackson State and at Washington, before getting tripped up by Middle Tennessee on Thursday.  Junior Arsula Clark, a transfer from ULM, is leading the team with 18.7 points per game and made her first start of the season on Thursday against Middle Tennessee. Junior returners Krystal Freeman and Sierra Cheatham are also averaging double figures through the first three games of the season at 13.7 and 11.3, respectively.

LSU leads the series 31-9, while the Lady Tigers are 14-4 in Fogelman Arena and 15-4 playing in New Orleans. This will be the 16th consecutive season that the teams have played each other.

This is a homecoming game for junior Rakell Spencer, a graduate of Cabrini High School in New Orleans.

Geaux Clear at the PMAC

Fans are reminded that the Geaux Clear Policy will be in effect for all LSU women’s basketball home games. Diaper bags must be clear and no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Backpacks, including drawstring/synch bags are strictly prohibited.

Fans with medically-necessary items will be allowed to enter the PMAC following a more thorough search at the designated inspection points. The lower level inspection will take place at the southeast corner entrance near the elevator and upper level inspection is available at the South concourse near the Ticket Office.
