Four Named Walter Camp All-Americans

ATLANTA – LSU linebacker Devin White, safety Grant Delpit, defensive back Greedy Williams and placekicker Cole Tracy were honored as Walter Camp All-Americans, the Walter Camp Foundation announced Thursday at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show.

White became the ninth LSU linebacker and first since Kevin Minter in 2012 to earn First-Team All-America honors. The winner of the 2018 Butkus Award, White, ranks second in the SEC in total tackles with 115 and his 12.0 tackles for loss stands No. 10 in the league. White is only the seventh player in LSU history to record 100 tackles in back-to-back seasons.

Now in his second year as a starting linebacker for the Tigers, White has 278 career tackles to go along with 29.0 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. He’s also responsible for eight takeaways (four fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and an interception).

Williams and Delpit continued LSU’s success of defensive back play. A Nagurski Finalist in 2018, Delpit became the seventh safety in school history to be named a First-Team All-American. A true sophomore, Delpit owns 73 tackles with 9.5 for loss. He is the only player in the country since 2000 to finish with five sacks, five interceptions, nine passes defended, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Williams also earned First-Team All-America honors. Williams and Delpit became the first LSU safety-cornerback duo to earn first-team honors since Jamal Adams and Tre’Davious White in 2016. Williams was named a Thorpe Award finalist and locked down his side of the field in 2018. Williams finished eighth in the league in passes defended with 11 and had two interceptions on the year.

Tracy earned Second-Team All-America honors and has cemented himself as one of the best kickers in school history. A graduate transfer from Assumption College and Lou Groza Award finalist, Tracy is 25-of-29 on field goals and made 38 extra points for 113 total points. This season, Tracy tied the school record for the longest kick in school history and made the game-winner as time expired in LSU’s win over then-No.7 Auburn in September.

This is the 129th edition of the Walter Camp All-America team – the nation’s oldest All-America team. Twenty-five players have been selected to the first team by the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. In addition, 25 players were selected to the Second Team.

The 2018 Walter Camp All-America team members will be honored at the organization’s national awards banquet on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Yale University Commons in New Haven, Connecticut.
