TULSA, Okla. – LSU men’s tennis sophomore Malik Bhatnagar upped his play in the second round of singles qualifiers at the ITA All-American Tournament, but it was not enough as South Alabama’s Loic Cloes secured the win Tuesday morning.
“Malik actually played better today than yesterday, but he ran into a very good player and didn’t manage his emotions enough when things didn’t go his way at some crucial moments,” co-head coach Chris Brandi said. “Good things are coming for Malik if he can improve on a few areas.”
Bhatnagar kept it close in the first set but fell to Cloes, 7-5, and Cloes took his momentum into the second set to finish the match, 6-2.
Senior Shane Monroe will wrap up the ITA All-American tournament in the main draw of singles beginning Thursday, October 4.
