Temple III Guests Tuesday At Tipoff Luncheon

BATON ROUGE – Former LSU player Collis Temple III, who played on two NCAA Tournament teams, including the 2000 SEC Championship team, will be the guest of Coach Johnny Jones Tuesday (Feb. 28) at the last basketball edition for this season of the Tipoff Luncheon.

The luncheon is held at the L’Auberge Hotel and Casino Baton Rouge. The monthly gatherings for good food and basketball conversations are open to the public and presented by Hub International.

Temple III, always known as CT3 by PA announcer Dan Borne’, played at LSU from 1999-03, finished his career with over 1,100 points and played on the 2000 and 2003 teams which went to the NCAA Tournament. The 2000 team defeated SE Missouri State and No. 15 Texas to advance to the Sweet 16. The team won the league title that year with a 12-4 record and 28 total wins. He was also on the Tiger team that advanced to the second round of the NIT in 2002.

Temple is a member of one of LSU’s first families of basketball with father Collis Temple Jr. and brother Garrett. Collis Temple Jr., was the first African-American athlete to play varsity basketball at LSU in the 1970s, while Garrett is enjoying great success in the NBA as a member of the Sacramento Kings.

The L’Auberge Hotel and Casino Baton Rouge is located off Nicholson Drive in Baton Rouge and the event will be held at the Bon Temps Buffet. The Buffet is available at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins at 12:10 p.m. The all-you-can-eat buffet charge is $14.95 a person. The buffet is located on the ground floor of the hotel in the casino area.

To get to the L’Auberge Hotel and Casino Baton Rouge from the LSU area, follow LA-30 N. /Nicholson Drive. Turn Left onto L’Auberge Crossing Drive and follow the signs to L’Auberge Baton Rouge.
