ATLANTA — LSU swimmers Logan Rysemus and Alex Linge are set to compete at the 2016 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships March 24-26 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
“We are excited to be back in Atlanta for another week of NCAA Championships,” LSU swimming coach Dave Geyer said. “I am looking for Alex and Logan to take their experiences they had here as relay participants to carry over into their individual swims. I expect the men’s meet to be amazingly fast, but both of these men are capable of representing LSU at an elite level.”
Rysemus is the fifth seed in the 100 fly after an ‘A’ cut of 45.59 at SEC Championships. The junior’s time won silver in the event at the conference meet and set the school record. Rysemus is attempting to join Mattias Ohlin (1999) as the only the men in school history to earn first team All-American honors in the 100 fly.
In addition to his silver medal, Rysemus also finished fourth in the 100 back at SEC
s with a time of 45.96. Rysemus broke the 12-year old school record originally set by Evan Martinec (46.23). The SEC Community Service Team member became the first Tiger in school history to go sub-46 in both the 100 back and 100 fly.
Linge reached the championship final of the 100 fly and 100 free for the Tigers. The senior set the school record in the 100 free with a time of 43.19. Linge broke the record of 43.22 originally set by Adam Schmitt in 1988 and tied by Andrei Tuomola in 2013. At the Bulldog Last Chance, Linge lowered the record to 43.16 in the 100 free.
At the conference meet, Linge finished eighth in the 100 free and sixth in the 100 fly. The Swedish native’s 100 fly time of 46.26 is ranked 25th in the country.
