Swimmers and Divers Named Scholastic All-Americans

BATON ROUGE, La. – Thirty-four members of the LSU swimming and diving were named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of American (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams, the association announced Wednesday.

The LSU women combined to finish with a 3.21 collective grade point average. The Lady Tigers are one of 10 schools in the Southeastern Conference to finish with a GPA of 3.00 or better.The LSU men compiled a 3.14 collective GPA during the fall semester. The Tigers are one of only eight SEC men’s teams to be awarded the honor.

Mitchell Petras, Alarii Levreault-Lopez, Kate Zimmer and Thomas Smith also finished with a fall GPA of 4.0 or higher. 

Five hundred and forty-seven swimming and diving teams representing 354 colleges and universities were named to the Scholar All-America Teams. The awards are in recognition of teams’ that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2015 fall semester. That is up 40 teams from the previous fall semester.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America -is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.

The LSU women return to action this weekend in Houston, Texas. The quad meet hosted by the University of Houston will also feature Rice and Tulane Jan. 29-30
