OMAHA, Neb. — Four LSU players have been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-America teams. Freshman right-handed pitcher Alex Lange was named to the first team, junior shortstop Alex Bregman was named to the second team, and senior catcher Kade Scivicque and junior first baseman Chris Chinea were voted to the third team.

Lange has posted an 11-0 record with a 1.89 ERA in 105 innings for the Tigers. In 16 starts, the right-hander has struck out 121 and limited opponents to a .214 cumulative batting average.

The Lee’s Summit, Mo., native was voted National Freshman Pitcher of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year, and he received first team all-SEC recognition. He is second in the SEC in ERA, wins and strikeouts, and he is fifth in the conference in opponent batting average.

Bregman, a 2015 Golden Spikes Award finalist and a two-time first-team all-American, has enjoyed a brilliant three-year career at LSU, batting .334 (258-for-773) with 56 doubles, 10 triples, 21 homers, 148 RBI, 150 runs and 65 stolen bases.

Bregman, the 2013 Brooks Wallace Award winner as the nation’s best shortstop, is batting .312 this season with 22 doubles, three triples, nine homers, 49 RBI, 56 runs and 37 stolen bases, the second-highest single-season steals total in LSU history.

Bregman, product of Albuquerque, N.M., became the second overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft on Monday when he was selected by the Houston Astros.

Scivicque, a native of Maurepas, La., is one of three finalists for the Johnny Bench Award, given to the nation’s most outstanding catcher. A first-team All-SEC and second-team All-America selection, he is hitting .347 this season with 20 doubles, six homers, and 45 RBI, and he has thrown out 18 runners attempting to steal.

Scivicque was selected in the fourth round Tuesday by the Detroit Tigers.

Chinea, selected in the 17th round Wednesday by the St. Louis Cardinals, is batting .355 this season with 17 doubles, 11 homers, 58 RBI and 42 runs. He is No. 3 in the SEC in hits (87), and he is fifth in the league in RBI, sixth in total bases (137), seventh in batting average, eighth in doubles, 10th in slugging percentage (.559) and 10th in home runs.

Chinea, a Miami native, was voted to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional All-Tournament team after batting .455 (5-for-11) in three games with one double, three RBI and three runs.
