BATON ROUGE – The LSU cross country teams are back on the road heading to Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete in the annual Chile Pepper Festival tomorrow held at Agri Park Cross Country Course.
The men will begin the meet at 9:45 a.m. CDT, and the women will follow behind at 10:20 a.m., as the men will race the 8k course and the women will race the 5k course.
“We are excited to be racing at the Chile Pepper Festival again,” Head Coach Khadevis Robinson. “The team usually loves running here, and it’s a great mix of competition. It will be nice to see how the team steps up.”
Senior Morgan Schuetz and freshman Dajour Braxton continue to lead their teams this season after Schuetz placed ninth at the Texas A&M Invitational and Braxton finished 42nd overall. The Lady Tigers finished 9th and the Tigers placed 12th overall.
Competing at the Chile Pepper Festival with Schuetz are freshman Erika Lewis, junior Danielle Avery, freshman Hollie Parker, juniors Elizabeth Dunning, Jenna Walker and sophomore Monica Guillot, who all placed in the top-100 last week at the Texas Invitational.
For the men, junior Christian Johnson who finished 56th at the Texas A&M and second for the Tigers, will accompany Braxton at the Chile Pepper Festival.
Along with Braxton and Johnson, freshmen Hayden Kingfisher, Austin Santacruz, junior Joseph St. Cyr, sophomore DC Lipani and junior Blair Henderson will race the 8k course at Agri Park.
After competing in Fayetteville, the Tigers and Lady Tigers will have one week to prepare for the Crimson Classic held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on October 16. The women will begin the 6k race at Harry Pritchett RC at 5 p.m., and the men will follow shortly behind at 5:30 p.m.
