BATON ROUGE – LSU has a limited number of tickets remaining for its season-opener against North Carolina in Atlanta on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Kickoff for the Tigers and the Tar Heels is slated for 7 p.m. CT in the Georgia Dome. Ticket prices are $60 and $85 and they can be purchased at the LSU ticket office or over the Internet at LSUtix.net.
LSU and North Carolina enter the contest both ranked in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and it’s one of only two games nationally during the opening weekend of college football that features a pair of top 20 teams.
LSU goes into the game ranked No. 16, while North Carolina is No. 18. The only other top 20 contest during opening weekend features No. 5 Boise State against No. 6 Virginia Tech.
The North Carolina game also marks the first time since 2005 that LSU will open the year against a ranked team. That year, LSU beat No. 15 Arizona State, 35-31, in Tempe in the first year of the Les Miles era.
The game will be the first between LSU and North Carolina since 1986 when the Tigers posted a 30-3 Homecoming win over the Tar Heels in Tiger Stadium on their way to claiming the SEC title that year.
