BATON ROUGE — Fresh off a 62-59 victory over McNeese State, the LSU men’s basketball team spent an hour of their Tuesday afternoon before beginning preparations for Washington State by visiting patients in the children’s hospital of the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

“We’re never too busy to take time and give back to our community,” head coach Trent Johnson said. “It puts things in perspective for the players and coaches. We’re fortunate enough to be healthy and to have the ability to brighten someone’s day.”

The Tigers put on Santa hats and sang Christmas carols to kids in their rooms. They also handed out autographed basketballs, posters, shirts and trading cards.

“It feels great to bring some Christmas spirit to the kids,” senior guard Garrett Temple said. “The nurses tell us how much our visits help with the healing process and that the kids can’t stop talking about us afterwards.”
